Go on a clear day
We went for sunset but unfortunately the day we went there was quite a lot of clouds and the sunset itself was rather unspectacular. Excellent views none the less. There is a smart cafe on the top which is a very pleasant place to enjoy a drink and snack, though quite pricey by Athens standards.

Great views
It is a worthwhile excursion and the views are wonderful. It was a bit misty when we went. We visited near dusk and so it was not too crowded. If you are walking to the entrance, it is quite difficult to find. I'd recommend taking the funicular up, especially if you are tired from the walk just to get there, and if you have the energy (we did not) you can walk down. It's just one euro more for roundtrip so you might as well buy a roundtrip ticket and decide later how to get down.
