Superb Walking!

We have now spent 2 wonderful short breaks in the area and done some superb walks. Squeezy fly into Asturias from Stansted at a very civilised hour - 11-ish in the morning - and the local cab company gets us to Soto in about an hour. Early afternoon we're already in the village and ready to walk. The last time we were there was last momth (June 2013) when the good weather had arrived along with all the flowers and wildlife. Plenty of gorgeous walks - the Gorge walk which starts in the village, and several longer walks right into the proper grown-up mountains with absolutely breathtaking views - were complemented by glorious local food in Soto's local cafes/restaurants. I can't believe such a tiny village has quite so many superb places to eat. We stayed with Rachel and Leon and their two wee boys in their beautifully restored house in the heart of the village. At night we fell asleep to the sound of the stream gurgling past below our balcony, and in the mornings were greeted by Rachel's sumptuous breakfasts which we ate outside admiring the views. The B&B is set up to provide "total immersion" in the British language and culture for Spanish guests who are studying English as a foreign Language. (Rachel teaches EFL) It's such a glorious place, though, that I thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay for those who don't want to learn English - though if you fancy learning Spanish, Rachel is only to happy to organise it with her Spanish teacher colleagues.
