A journey through time and place. With over 30,000 objects spanning over a hundred years and ranging in size, FBQ Museum represents a modern version of a Cabinet of Curiosities, the historic and eclectic room of marvels from the Renaissance that amazed connoisseurs and collectors throughout time. It displays items spanning from the Jurassic age through to the early Islamic period and up to the present day, across twelve themes: from Islamic Art to Qatar Heritage, Vehicles, Jewelry & Currency. Visitors to the museum can explore one of the most diverse collections of any Doha museum including the world’s largest private collection of swords and weaponry. Among the Museum highlights, the Syrian House and the Qur’an room. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani’s collections reveal the common thread of cultures that connect communities from as far apart as Southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

Revisit …still an excellent personal collection of memorabilia worth the trip out of Doha to see
Museum is around 40 minutes drive from Doha on the Dukhan road just before Shahaniya and well signposted. On the museum approach road you have to stop and show one ID then 1 minute drive to museum..no covered parking so car gets very hot!. Very welcoming staff who explain layout and guide to museum along with a welcome Arabic coffee. Entrance is QAR 50 so reasonably priced with discounts for children, students and elderly. There is also a good Arabic calligraphy stall where they will write your name beautifully on a presentation sheet while you are visiting the museum to collect on way out (very reasonably priced). The museum is vast and on this visit well air conditioned. Enormous ecclesiastical collection of everything from cars, dhows, clothing, firearms, furniture, carpets, pottery and too numerous to list. A double sided Persian woven carpet is particularly amazing. There is also a small cafe and gift shop. Allow at least 3-4 hours for a good look around. In the grounds you can also see Oryx and an amazing stables. Well worth a trip out of Doha to visit.

Great display of an enormous personal collection of artefacts
Located on the Dukhan road around 40 minutes drives from Doha the museum is very easy to find and well signposted. Have to show your Qatar ID or passport at the first vehicle entrance and then usual Covid safety checks on entry. Entrance fee QAR 50 for adults, 30 for 13-22 years and free under 12. Lots of free parking (but no shelter). The museum is enormous but laid out in huge galleries in authentic local stone which look fantastic. Galleries include weaponry, cars, textiles, architectural exhibits, ceramics, fossils, clothes, Dhows, Camel and Horse artefacts, paintings, sculptures and much much more!. The exhibits are well displayed with some historical information. The artefacts are not just Qatari but collected items by Sheikh Faisal from across the world. There is also a nice cafe to take a break. Staff everywhere are very friendly and helpful. They are adding a huge extension in the same authentic local architectural style. There are also beautiful stables to visit and an Oryx sanctuary. This is a great place to visit and you really could spend a whole day there. A visit highly recommended for residents and Qatar visitors.
