Mallos de Riglos, Aragon, Spain

Spectacular view over the Mallos

Nice circular walk, takes about 3 hours. The path leads you up to a ‘mirador’ from where you have a spectacular view over the valley and Gallego river. We walked with 2 children (age 5&8). Bring enough water and go early or late.

    Beautiful towers of rock
We went here not to climb the huge towers of rock, but to do a 14 kilometer walk around the Mallos de Riglos. We slept in the car park (there are two) and started out early to do our walk. it was cold, -5C overnight, but as soon as we were in the sunshine we warmed up, we cooked our lunch at the viewpoint overlooking the mallos. Then we walked down between the huge towers back into the village of Riglos. We had a drink the evening before our walk in the first shop on the left, as all the other bars were shut. A bottle of Estrella and a pineapple juice was 3 euros. There were lots of climbers in the afternoon, it's well known to the climbing community. The walk we did had amazing views to the snow clad Pyrenees to the north. There are several via ferrata in the area. We also visited the Castillo de Loarré, nearby.

    Brilliant!
I was expecting this to be quite remote but it is actually easily accessed by road and there is plenty of parking. The rock formations are stunning and definitely worth a visit. It is popular with climbers and walkers, we enjoyed watching the climbers scaling these magnificent rocks. The village is quite small but with a couple of bars/restaurants. I would recommend Riglos over Aguero as the rock formations are the same but the access road and parking are much better here/
