A walk in the shores all seasons
Having a lake near home is a privilege! If you like a peaceful walk with nice views, go during the week or for a boost full of life go on the weekends! Good also for cycling or just sitting in a cafe and relaxing. No cars allowed inside the gates, specially on weekends.

Nice walking, biking, hiking very close to the city.
Spare some time and try to avoid going by car. You can park or take public transport to Oran and begin your hike there. Depending on your route it takes about 1 hour to walk down to the lake on wild anatolian soil. Nice paths easy downhill hike. Around the lake is roughly 10K, pavement flat. You can call a taxi from Oran taksi stop at the rare enterence of the lake, or walk back. Return will be steep uphill, beware. Try to avoid busy summer weekends in a good weather. Other times it will be nice calm. Best is mountain biking between the Oran road and lake mentioned above in numerous nice dirt roads or single tracks in between pine trees, beautiful. Depending your level of biking you can find real challenging steep, bugy etc. tracks or enjoy a nice family ride in wider fire roads. Same roads are excellent for hiking too. Safe all over the area but beware of the dogs if you run alone. There are some unattended dogs. Most of them are fed regularly by hikers. But be aware and ready. İn spring and early summer do not forget to take a camera as you will meet an incredible variety of wild tundra flora including a couple of wild small orchids etc. Lake itself is so charming and along the walk there are cafes primitive but nice restaurants kiosks etc. Winter hikes on frozen muddy roads or fresh snow is also a must. During hot summer days or open sunny winter days which is very common try to avoid mid day sun and hot weather , bring water with you, and do not forget the sun screen.
