Best Trekking route from Shanghai
Huihanggudao (Huihang Ancient Road) is an ancient trade route followed by the merchants from Anhui province to Zhejiang province. It has important role in Chinese history like silk route and tea route. It is the best trekking route near to Shanghai , away from the crowd and hectic busy city. Many people doesn’t know about it , so the place is not very crowded like other Chinese tourist places. We have visited there during April 2014. The whole trekking route is around 20 km, we completed it in one and a half days and if you are experienced you can complete it in one day. How to get in and get out: 1) Take an overnight train to Jixi (we travelled from Shanghai) 2) Take a bus /taxi to the starting of the route – Jiangnan Diyi Guang 3) At the end of the trekking we reached Yonglai village in Zhejiang Province. 4) Take taxi or bus from there to Hangzhou Where to Stay: 1) Accommodation facilities are minimal in the route 2) We stayed at a point Xixue tang (xixue hall). There is a small restaurant and hotel. They even lend tents. 3) Seems there is another option also at Lantian Ao Point. 4) It is better to carry some food during the trekking.

A good hiking trail from Hangzhou
Huihanggudao is an ancient trail used by the merchants from Zhejiang region to Anhui region. I started off the hike from the Zhejiang side. You can buy the walking stick from the villagers for RMB 2 at the start of the trail. This walking stick became my saviour as it really aided my hike. The trail was quite easy to follow. It was only difficult that day because of the light rain throughout the day. You do not have to carry much food and water (keeping your hiking gear light) as there are plenty of stalls along route where you can buy and also take a rest. The trail is about 16km and takes around 5-6 hrs to complete depending on your stamina. The sceneries along the way are beautiful and I took plenty of pictures. Oct is a great month to hike as the weather is cooling.
