Nice university
Like the environment, live in the hotel close to the synchrotron centre. Good breakfast with Anhui style. Very good research atmosphere.

Beautiful Campus(es)
University Of Science And Technology Of China (aka USTC) is one of the top schools in China. During its prime (80s - 90s ?) it attracted top students from all over the country. In Hefei, USTC is a big deal. Someone told me that the president of the university has higher ranking than the Major of the city. Over the years the university has grown to 4-5 campuses. It was great to walk through 3 of them and take some pictures.

Nice to visit if you are in town
We visited the east campus of USTC (known by its shortened name KeDa in Chinese). The university has been considered a top university in China throughout its history. We entered via the northern gate off of Huangshan Road (just east of JinZhai road). We had to ask permission to be let through the gates, but the guards were friendly and allowed us to enter. The campus has two nice, small lakes, lots of trees, and some quiet parks, surrounded by fairly ordinary buildings.
