Laguna de Mucubaji, Andean Region, Venezuela

5.0 (445 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #2 in Merida Bodies of Water

As beautiful as always!

I've been here many times and it's always a pleasure to come back. Laguna de Mucubají is located in Sierra Nevada National Park and its one of the main tourist attractions in the area. Since its a part of the northern Andes, the weather is always cold and windy...So, do not forget to take warm clothes with you! You can find some walking trails, do horseback riding and depending on the season, you can fish and catch your own trout :-) To enter, you pay a small fee -per car- and park your car next to the Laguna. Enjoy this scenic landscape and take the typical picture with "frailejones"

    A landmark everyone should visit
We had the chance to visit the lagoon with a tour group and it is a beautiful landmark everyone must visit. You can enjoy horseback rides, see the local flora named "frailejon" and take beautiful pictures. We were very lucky because shortly after we arrived the fog started to come down and other groups that arrived later were not able to enjoy it as much as we did. We recommend going on sunny days because when the fog takes over you can't see anything and it's not worth it.

    The very Best!
This is a movie set for you! Bring cameras. You are right there in the middle of nature. We did a few hour tour, saw so many birds and Capybera, Carmen, and other unique animals. We were very happy with our guide Junior from Gravity Tours.
