Well maintained historical building
Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

If You Didn't Get Enough Tile at the Alcazar
I absolutely loved this place because I love tiles and the range of tiles was extraordinary. I also love Mujedar architecture. If you do too, by all means go and try to go early and not on a day that it's free to EU citizens as part of the pleasure is sitting and just being in the spaces. All that said, my husband was pretty done with tiles by the time we visited here ("How much tile is too much?" he was heard to say) and spent most of the time puzzling over the painting of the bearded woman (definitely a "Wait! What?" moment when you turn the corner and see that; be sure to read the description) and scrolling through his phone. I mention that because I noticed several other husbands doing the same while several wives and groups of women were marveling with me at the tiles. I know that sounds sexist but it made us both laugh. Also ... there's a sweet little tourist shop directly to the left of the front entrance (as you face the Casa) that's well worth a visit for less expensive but not made in China things.

Well maintained historical building
Very impressively maintained casa. However, you will need a guide - personal or audio to appreciate all the detail. Be aware that there is different, higher, price if you want to visit upstairs, which is not made very clear when you buy the tickets. It gets very popular in the rain. Well worth the walk out to this place.
