Read if you are thinking of going to the Bio zoo!!!
A truly excellent zoo. It will take you about 2.5-3 hours to walk round. You must see the animal show which lasts approx 20 mins, but is well worth it! We arrived about 3.30 ish and saw the show at 7pm. It is v well put together and will have you transfixed!!! The animals are all beautifully kept and this is just how a zoo should be. My children wanted a slushy drink each (4 euros) and a cuddly at the end which was about 20 euros. There was a baby orangutan and a tiny gorilla- which should how nicely kept the animals are. I am not a great fan of zoos, but this def proved the exception. There is an underground car park next door and if you take the ticket into the zoo you get the parking half price. At half price it worked out to about £3.50. Don’t forget to shop at the Carrefour supermarket and pick up your 2 for 1 ticket vouchers. This works really well - just ask at the cash desk and take into account that children over 9 pay adult prices. Check out the website. Enjoy. X

    Mostly very good
Firstly, we loved our trip to the Bio Park and easily filled three hours walking around, even though it is not a huge place. The good: The animals there were healthy looking and their enclosures were very clean. We loved that there were hardly any fences and that we had direct vision to see most of the animals. Information boards were comprehensive and educational. Money from entrance to the park helps world conservation of endangered species and raises awareness of those in danger of extinction. Staff were great, happy and seemed enthusiastic. Fabulous for photography. Nice cafe. There was a "walk through " enclosure with some lovely little birds, bats, mouse deer and tiny tropical fish. We spent quite a long time in here and all the creatures seemed to be happy and comfortable. The orangutan enclosure was good with lots of hiding and climbing places. What could be improved? 1. One of the tigers was exhibiting stress behaviour, pacing back and forth all the time we were there. The other tiger was asleep so must have felt calm. 2. Some of the enclosures seemed rather small. Specifically - the leopard enclosure and some of the fish viewing areas. 3. The primates, chimps and gorillas, in particular, seemed to lack enrichment. We live in Dorset and visit Monkey World - a rescue centre for monkeys and apes. At Monkey World, they take a huge amount of care hiding food and making life interesting for these animals. In the chimp enclosure, there were no tyres, swings or toys/blankets/towels for these very intelligent primates to play with. The Gorillas were thrown food that they caught but did not have a chance to find food, as they would in the wild. I would hope that out of opening hours, they had some form of stimulation and enrichment. 4. Hippos like to live in herds and like muddy areas. The two hippos in the park had some water, filled with sturgeon (I think) but were asleep on land during the day which is not how they live in the wild. All in all, we very much enjoyed our visit and learned a lot. We were impressed by the overall cleanliness and the health of the animals.
