North Pennisula Recreation Center, Alaska, United States

4.5 (9 reviews) Sunday: Spent Ranking #6 in Kenai Sports Complexes

THE BEST INDOOR RECREATION AREA IN THE USA!!

What can I say? I would swim here everyday!! As it was, it's a 12-mile drive, but worth it. The water is a comfortable warm, unlike the high schoo in Ketchikan. The people there are nice. And I adored the hot tub. If you're overweight, don't worry! Jump in the water. No one is there to judge you. They are just happy to see you there! Definitely handicap accessible in and out of the water.

    My favorite place
I love this place. I spend most mornings there. The building the pool is in is a dome . All the way around the bottom of the dome is windows. A magical place to catch the sunrise. People can't believe that this area has such a wonderful pool. there is a water slide and hot tub. The pool is separated into 3 sections the kids play area has a big sprinkler that looks like a mushroom. The middle section is biggest with 2 lap lanes . It's where people walk laps in the morning until 1 in the afternoon when the slide is turned on for open swim. Last section is the deep end. With a diving board. Outside is a picnic area and baseball feel behind the feild is trails that leads to a lake. But watch out for bears in the area.

    Great for Kids and Adults
The pool is warm which is not great for long distance lap swimming, but if you are more of a 100 meter and then take a break kind of swimmer it is great. The hot tub is truly hot and they keep the young children out. On that note, the lifeguards do the jobs and keep the running and horseplay down for safety. The waterslide is a blast and they let parents go down with one smaller child or catch a child who is at least 3 feet tall at the end if they want to go by themselves. There is a shallow play area for the kids, a deeper play area for older kids, swim lanes, and a diving board area. There is also a poolside area set aside for birthday parties etc. This is the 2nd time we went and it was even more fun than the first time.
