Great Place to Stop and Shop
Nenana Visitor Center is fun place to stop and get information about the town, its history and info on how to get around. We have magazines, brochures and train tickets from Nenana to Denali (24 hour notice required). We also have an all Alaskan gift shop, with everything from Alaskan Furs to Birch Snacks and wild berry jams. The Visitor Center is also the home of the Alaskan Gallery, featuring Vibant three dimensional metal prints of Alaskan animals and landscapes. With featured Artsis right in the shop. There is no better place to stop along the parks highway in Alaska to get everything you need. Snacks, Restrooms and picknick area are all available for your convenience.

Nenana Valley Visitor Center, Nenana, Alaska.
This is one very sweet visitor center. On the brink of being closed down by the Village of Nenana, a young couple has taken it upon themselves to keep the visitor center open and functioning. I have always enjoyed visiting this visitor center for a good number of years / decades. There are some very interesting displays on the grounds of the visitor center. One is the tug boat Taku Chief, a historic tugboat that was used when the Nenana River was the host of water borne commerce. There is also a memorial (next to the Taku Chief) to the Alaska Territorial Guard (also known as the Eskimo Scouts) who served our country during World War II from 1942 to 1947. In the Spring of each year, Nenana is host to the Nenana Ice Classic. One of the ice classic Tripods is on display at the visitor center. Behind the center are picnic tables and restroom facilities for visitors which, from-time-to-time, include Tour Bus groups.

Feeling Lucky
this small community is on the George Parks highway to Denali 55 miles south of Fairbanks. it is the site of one of the biggest local lotteries trying to guess when the ice goes out each spring on the Tanana River since 1917. Worth the stop for a rest, or buy a ticket if you feel lucky, and meet the lady that seems to own or run most things. We were here before Feb 2017 and didn't win. If you feel like cheating they have a book you can look at of the day and time of every year back to 1917 when it happens, the rest is luck and up to the weather man
