Excellent Experience in the Alaska Wilderness!

During an August 2022 cruise to Alaska, we rented a 4 person ATV for 2.5 hours from Hoonah ATV while docked in Icy Strait Point. We had the best time! The area is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our self guided ATV trip. From the cruise dock, we walked to the shuttle stop at the end of the Icy Strait Point compound and took the shuttle to Hoonah. The town is small but quaint. A short walk from the drop off point brought us to Hoonah ATV. Joe was very accommodating, helpful and informative. It was a pleasure to visit with him. The town was smaller than we anticipated and we did some souvenir shopping before taking a taxi back to the cruise port. Joe recommended a taxi service and it was a very convenient way to get back to Icy Strait Point. I will definitely take this tour again if I find myself in Hoonah in the future! Thank you, Joe!

Great experience with Hoonah ATV Tours!
Rented 2 ATV’s while in port on our Alaskan Cruise. I had communicated with Joe prior via email but unfortunately he had not finalized our booking. It was a very busy day (lots of ships in port) but Joe worked with us since he realized he had not completed the booking and not only honored our reservation but gave us an additional 30 minutes. We were the last customers to return with our ATV’s and Joe also offered us a ride back to the ship instead of us waiting for the shuttle. High marks for both. The ATV’s were fun to drive and Joe loads them with a GPS preset with stops, an emergency tracking device, and bear spray. Thankfully no need for the latter two. :-) We actually did not encounter any wildlife in the Tongass Forest other than a couple of eagles, but still a very fun and scenic drive. It is also very peaceful and secluded; we hardly passed any other vehicles on our journey. Doing the excursion through Joe’s company was so much more reasonably priced than the cruise ship sponsored ATV ride; we would have easily paid double through them for less time. Highly recommend and great to support a local business owner.

    Incredible Experience
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. We booked an ATV for 2.5 hours and had a blast. We saw sights and scenery that will last a lifetime. We actually saw a bald eagle swoop down to the water, grab a fish and land on a large rock in front of us only to be immediately chased off by a momma bear. Her small cub then came out of the forest, climbed up on the rock and ate the fish. Most people live a lifetime without seeing something like this. We were fortunate enough to experience it and capture it on camera. Joe, thanks for everything. We will highly recommend you to everyone we know. Also, give that beautiful dog of yours a good scratch behind the ears.
