Crescent Lake Hiking Trail, Alaska, United States

Spectacular trees water and critters....

We drove from hurricane ridge to crescent lake for the hike through old growth Forrest and to the water fall. The track is easy about a three mile round trip, it gets steep as you approach the falls, but worth the effort. The trees both Douglas firs and western red cedars are spectacular very big and grand, a must see. The lake is one of the very best clean, inviting and calm the day we were there. Put this on your must do list... Alan and Penny

    Ascend into heavenly country
Crescent Lake trail takes you from the parking lot at the end of Quartz Creek Road to a wonderful alpine lake. The trail is 6 miles one way. It is a steady but never steep climb that crosses Quartz Creek on a safe and secure wooden bridge. The trail is well maintained and a good surface for running, hiking or biking. This trail is also open to horses. There are some roots across the trail so, depending on your mountain biking skill, you may have to dismount for some root crossings. The pay off for your hike is a blue, crystal clear alpine lake in a wooded, peaceful setting. There is a cabin on the lake that can be rented through www.resevationsamerica.com. This trail is a beautiful hike, you will not be sorry that you tried it. Be sure to have a long sleeved coat, hat, snacks, water, bug dope, and bear spray. It is always best to be safe.

    Crescent hike
My wife and I liked to hike the trail years ago. We camped at the lake three times and have just done the trail to the bridge several times. The bridge is a little more than half way to the lake. Nice spot fore lunch. It is a beautiful place.
