Good way to understand the Mobile AL past

There are several museums in the area, but this one has a strong focus on archaeology. If you want to fully engage yourself within the local culture, and to write about it then you need to come here for a visit. The location on the University of South Alabama Campus provides you with a nice walking campus, and there is a coffee shop in the library close by. A must see for the ExploreTraveler.com team.

    A nice history lession
This building is located on the campus of the University of South Al. It is 2 stories of history and artifacts environmentally controlled by elaborate control systems provided by Walters Controls. There are docents who walk you around if needed and they offer school tours that can be scheduled ahead. It is not easy to find if your new to the campus but it's located off the main campus road so if you google it you should be fine.If you like history and such you can spend a good morning enjoying what it has to offer.

    Small but with great exhibits
I tripped over this museum while visiting the university on other business. It is small, but nicely done. Good exhibits on some local digs, history of the area, early peoples and the like. It is staffed (by an archeology student I assume). I noticed it is closed on Monday's, but didn't take note of the other hours.
