    Love this place!
Recently visited this area and throughly enjoyed our day. Did a little fishing, had a little fire. Nice spots to pitch a tent and spend the night. Very reasonable. Will be back.

Nice camping for the cost; lack of posted policy for arrivals after 4 pm is ridiculous.
The bottom line about the primitive campsite is that it is very affordable, at about $15/night. Some reviews seem to conflate this Town Creek site with the larger, "RV-friendly, hook-ups available" other site at Lake Guntersville. An any event, this campground has sites right on the lake, with a nice view to the west. It has one nice double-restroom/shower facility and one restroom/shower facility badly in need of an update: it's bad but has not reached "terrible." Most but not all sites have at least a little shade. Fire pits and picnic tables at each site. The downside to those unfamiliar with the drill: reservations are not accepted, and you check in at the Town Creek Center nearby (where boats are rented and there are some supplies. However, the center closes at 4 pm and there is zero, zip, nada signage about what to do if you arrive after that. It's apparently cool to pay the next day, but I seem to recall that in a visit many months ago that a Park Ranger came through checking registrations: a posted policy is not too much to expect. "Assuming" that next-day registration is ok sounds like a good way to get fined.
