Truly demonstrates the Confederates' Incredible sacrifice and loss

Have never been so touched by any cemetery such as this, due to the incredible amount of time it must have taken to list so many thousand names of Confederates lost to battle. Also, some of the most elaborately carved statues and crypts I've ever seen. Peak holes allow visitors to see historic family memorbilia left inside the crypts...fascinating look into the past. Well worth the time to visit.

We went to this cemetery because locals told us that one gentleman was supposedly wrongly accused. He told them if after he was executed if a tree grew from his grave he was wrongly accused. A tree grew but some say he had acorns in his pocket.

    Interesting Experience
We visited the Magnolia Cemetery in order to pay our respects to the Confederate dead buried in the Confederate Rest portion of the cemetery. The grounds are well cared for and everything is very clean. There is a marker dedicated to the Confederate general, Braxton Bragg, in the Confederate Rest as well as part of a statue that was once perched atop the memorial to Confederate dead nearby (lightning destroyed much of the original piece). It was a sobering memorial and worth the visit even though the cemetery is off the beaten path.
