Awesome Artifacts You've Never Seen Before
Built by Virginia businessman, James W. Roper in 1833, Oakleigh is a remarkable example of historic preservation, as it has been adapted and preserved by the four families who lived here. As one of the first major residences to be built outside of the city limits, historians cite Oakleigh as one of the rarest examples of Greek revival architecture in the United States. And our tour is just as distinct- come experience it today. Walk-in tours are available Tuesday-Saturday from 10-4. Tours start on the hour.

Another interesting and beautiful look into Mobile’, Al. Past
This was a stop well rewarded. The grounds and home are inspiring and the docents are very knowledgeable and receptive to questions. They also offer a look into the past occupants life’s and what it was like to experience life during those times. Recommend to anyone interested in Mobile Al. past.

Fascinating
As visitors from the UK much of the information about the house given to us by the “Belles” today was new and fascinating. The furnishings are well maintained and the guides interest and enthusiasm for her job was infectious. We loved it.
