Get A Clue Escape Rooms, Alabama, United States

3.5 (6 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Foley Escape Games

Very interesting

We really enjoyed our time here and the staff was helpful and we really appreciate that. However they did say we were rude at one time but they still maintained a professional manner. We definitely will go to another facility text time, we don’t want to “be rude” again. But like I said before we loved that keep a professional manner.

    Jees, that was rough
So I want to preface this by saying the person that handled us was very nice, and I wish I didn’t have to write this review, but I’ve done about 15 escape rooms in 5 different cities/states, and that was no question the worst escape room we’ve ever done. First of all the production value was really low. That alone wouldn’t lead to that low of a rating, maybe a 3 or a 4. I’ve done a low production value room before and still had a great time, but this was not. First off the person that ran it told us way too much helping information to start about when we need what items before we even got into the room which isn’t good at all. We told her we didn’t want clues unless we were waaaay behind because we were experienced and would rather struggle and fail then be hand held through it. She didn’t listen to that at all and gave us hint after hint. Another big issue was that there were multiple locks that didn’t work well at all, like another review said we would put in the right code, and it wouldn’t work properly. We also had multiple clues that just weren’t intuitive and we had to be hand held even to get them. And even that wasn’t right, we were asked what our answer was, told her, she said it was wrong and it ended up being right after we gave her 4 other options! There were some cool gadgets in there, but there were way too many clues, they weren’t intuitive, the locks themselves were bad, the room itself felt cheap, and the person going through it with us helped us waaay too much, but after about 20 minutes in I was checked out so it makes sense she helped so much since we needed it. I’d recommend getting different locks, give way less hints, and cut at least 3 puzzles so it’s possible to finish without the hints.

Worst escape room that I have done!
There should be a video or something leading to the first clue. Second, locks needs to pop open without much effort. We did the first clue right over and over, but the lock had to be pulled extremely hard to make it open. So, we spent 20 minutes on a clue that we figured out in less than a minute. The owner just kept giving us the same clue. Finally, I just pulled very very hard, and it came open. After fiddling with that first clue for 20 minutes, we all wanted to go home. We decided to try to make up time, and it probably could have been done. However, one of the clues was tucked behind something at the top of the ceiling. I am a short person, and I could not even see the clue that high up. I kept going back, and shaking the item till something moved. After that, I could not reach it, and I had to get someone to reach it. At that point, I knew that we would not finish. There had been too much time wasted on a properly done clue with a lock that you had to really force open and a clue at the ceiling. I guess I should have tried to force it open the first time, but I was afraid of breaking the box. We still came within minutes of escaping. So, if the lock was normal and the clue was where I could see it, we would have escaped. We have done several escape rooms, and we fly through them. I have never not escaped even on hard ones. I will go somewhere else. This was just poor design.
