Amazing Building with Great (underrated) Museums
This place is fantastic. It is perhaps the most amazing building I have ever been in; just being inside such a work of art is worth the price of admission but the museums themselves were really great. I don't know why they don't get more press because I think they are the best museums in town. We spend over 5 hours here and could have spent more. There is a great art display including a section with street art from Brazilian artist, Nina Pandolfo. Then there is a very thorough section on Heydar Aliyev that gives a lot of information on recent Azerbaijan history. There is also a small section on carpets. There is an extensive music display with hundreds of different instruments from Azerbaijan as well as from other countries, with great video and audio displays showing how these are played, how they are made, and different types of local music being played with these instruments. On the top floor is the most spectacular collection of dolls I have ever seen. Under a separate ticket, there is a below ground museum of classic cars that are restored to perfection; this is a must see for a car enthusiast. Cost is 15 manat for the main museum and another 10 for the cars.

    A Modern world architectural excellence.
When you are in Baku, you cannot miss this amazing structure. Its a modern architectural wonder. Though you might feel that space is just wasted to accommodate design, that is the objective. Its to give that feel while moving through the vast space, that gives this structure its importance. It is not just a cultural centere, it is also a museum. It showcases Azerbaijan transformation and talks about its modern world founder. One should also visit the car museum in the basement which showcases some rare and finest automobiles from around the world.
