  1. 5.0 Worthington Village Green (5 reviews)
    - What you[d expect in the Midwest
    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
The four corners of the "Green" seems to be taken out of a novel about the Midwest. A church, great architecture, small town atmosphere, family owned shops, an Ice cream parlor and restaurants that feature really good food. On occasion there are art festivals and music venues to enjoy. But most of all there are VERY friendly people simply walking about and enjoying this gem of a city, Worthington, Ohio !! See more..

Down the hill on Whitney Ave. from Worthington Estates School is 8a) Whitney Playground, and off Highgate Ave. is 8b) Highgate Playground, both which have swings and play areas for young children, benches for parents, plus open fields. 7. 5.0 High Road Gallery and Studios (1 review)
    - Open Fri. and Sat. 12-4
Sunday: Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries
High Road Gallery and Studios image
The gallery is located in an historic house on the northeast edge of Worthington. The owner Carol Hershey creates art in this space and provides space to other central Ohio artists (currently 13) who also work and display their work here. Some works are for sale, and there are classes offered. There were I think 4 artists there when we visited, and they were all very open and engaging. The art in oils, watercolor, chalk, and other media is displayed all over the rooms of the old house. There are different temporary exhibits also, currently there is one with Joseph Lombardo and his students. There was one of his oil paintings over a fireplace entitled Beaver Pond priced at $3,000. Most of the works were not that expensive! Parking is available in lots behind the house. Here is the history of the Buttles-Pinney-Brown House house: This Federal five-bay brick residence at 12 East Stafford was built in the early 1800's by the Buttles family. Advertised in the Columbus Gazette on March 1819 as "built with first rate materials," the owner indicated he was willing to accept soldier's warrants as payment. The property was sold for $1500 in 1823 and was referred to in the deed as "the two story brick house lately occupied by Buttles." In 1839, Sidney Brown, a cooper, purchased the property where he had a shop for making and repairing barrels. He also operated a grocery in a small building north of his home. The home remained in the Brown family until 1937. Later owners added the distinctive metal caps over the windows and the vestibule entry but the structure retains most of its original character. This home reflects the popular Victorian tradition of combining home and business at the same location. See more..
  8. 4.5 A La Carte Food Tours (24 reviews)
    - Have Your Cake And Eat It Too!
    Food Tours
A La Carte Food Tours image
I attended a Kitchen Clinic hosted by A La Carte Food Tours May 9th, 2015. The clinic was all about cake. The host Sheila Campbell was so enlightening and knowledgeable about cake! We tasted a variety of cakes (I think 5 total!) and learned about the Chemistry and ingredients in cakes. Great tips and helpful skills were demonstrated so I know I can now make cakes from scratch and they will turn out delicious. Learned about how to make our own cake flour out of all- purpose, how to make our own vanilla extract... We had a range of ages in the clinic 2nd grade and up and Sheila did a great job accomodating everyone! She is an excellent presenter. This clinic was worth the time and money - the money I will save by making my own vanilla alone! Thanks Sheila & Ron for a great 2 hours!! See more..

    - A ' Don't Miss' Place for Craft Beer Lovers
    Bars & Clubs
    Zaftig Brewing Company image
Zaftig Brewing has one of the widest selections of self-brewed craft beers of the many breweries in Columbus. I went there for a carryout order and I was not disappointed with the selections available in cans and that too in mix & match. Beers are also available to go in growlers. No food is served at the brewery but food trucks visit the place. The taproom is well laid out and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. Zaftig Brewing is well worth the visit for craft beer lovers. See more..

We found this wine bar on a random Friday after Googling “wine bars near me.” It’s a great place with friendly patrons and staff. They have a great selection of seldom seen wines. I’m always a fan of finding new bottles to buy. You can order a glass, use the tasting machine, or buy a bottle and drink among friends. 18. 4.0 Jeffers Mound (1 review)
    - Hopewell mound
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Jeffers Mound image
This prehistoric Hopewell mound is up the hill from Olentangy River Road on Plesenton Drive (just north of 161). It is a little public park space, but there's really no where to park, so it's more of a pull over. You could take the bike path on the west side of the river, cross at Plesenton (careful fast traffic on Olentangy). It's a steep hill up, but then a nice ride or jog around the neighborhood. This mound is all that remains of a bigger earthworks once here, a 60-foot bluff built by the Hopewell people before AD 400. Let it whet your appetite for a road trip to the Hopewell visitor center and mounds near Chillicothe. This is the verbiage on the plaque: Archaeologists believe that this prehistoric mound, part of a complex of earthworks, was used for rituals by the Hopewell people and was probably built between 100 BC and 400 AD. Note the painted post tops marking the Hopewell pole house footprint. The mound is recorded on the National Register of Historic Places and was given to the Worthington Historical Society in 1974 in memory of Herman Plesenton Jeffers. East Granville Road Park image
I used to live in a house on Plymouth St. that backed up to this little park, and my dogs would escape here. Now I jog by on the way back from Rush Creek, a little green and woods space just east of 161 and High. It's almost 8 acres with a playground, small kids' play area, shelter house, drinking fountain and picnic tables. It contains the Moses Wright Nature Area, a little woodland with trails. The land belonged to Worthington lawyer and Judge James Wright and his son Moses Wright. See more..
