Our museum is housed in a historic building in Waveland that had been used as a school and civic center. It is the only building left standing on our main street after Hurricane Katrina and has been restored to its original structure. We have permanent and temporary exhibitions with interactive displays, oral history and other videos, along with a diverse collection of memorabilia from the entire Gulf Coast. We welcome families from our community, from around the US and international visitors. We hope you stop by! See more..

What a nicely maintained and patrolled visitors center! Also very friendly and alert security. Clean grounds and restrooms! Pua my piggy traveling companion loved grazing in the grass! I have been to other rest areas in upper Mississippi...they too are great. From my travels, Mississippi has some of the best maintained, staffed and scenic rest stops of all the southern states! Even Texas ha! See more..

    - old school retro
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM Movie Theaters
nothing fancy. old school. 2 screens. fairly new movies. So inexpensive. $5.00 for seniors or before 5. To our surprise we got to see 45 minutes of 1950's cartoons before the trailers. $6. for a huge bag of hot fresh popcorn. more than enough for 4 of us. They serve beer and wine, we did not partake. But, that's pretty cool. See more..
  6. 3.5 Buccaneer State Park (172 reviews)

There are two different things to experience at this state park - the camping and the wave pool. I have never camped here but as someone who has spent a lifetime camping it appears to be a pretty good spot simply due to location. I come here for the wave pool. At $19 a visit it can be pricey, however, I usually get a season pass for $60 and visit multiple times during the summer. I enjoy relaxing in the shaded areas and feeling the gulf breezes. I also enjoy both of the waterslides as well as dips in the wave pool. I don't usually eat here but I didn't find the prices to be all that unreasonable. The changing areas are clean and there are showers throughout the property. There is a large covered area underneath the main building for those trying to keep out of the sun. It is a very good place to get away to just to relax and it is even better mid-week when it is less crowded. See more..

Private Model Collection of Thomas F. Monti image
What an amazing story and place. This is a private collection of over 4000 plastic and die-cast models put together by one man, Thomas F Monti. The collection was handed down to family members who are very enthusiastic to show their fathers work and appreciate showing it. They share personal experiences of their father and them building models together and stories behind some of the collections visitors. While some local Gulf Coast Mississippians know about this collection, it is truly a hidden gem for tourists. Prior to the death of TF this collection had limited hours. Since it is a private collection, and TF has passed, please call Joe (one of TF's sons) to set up an appointment. I highly recommend visiting this collection; it's a one of a kind.
