- 5.0 Oconee County Library (2 reviews)
-A Gem
Spent 2-3 hours Libraries
Glad to have OCL in town. Being retired we do a lot of reading and are visiting the library weekly. They have a large selection on site to select from. A great feature is the Stare wide system, GAPines.com, where you can go on line to determine if a book is available locally, if not, order it sent to your location. You're notified when the book arrives. See more..

- 4.5 Elder Mill Covered Bridge (49 reviews)
-Peaceful place in nature, off the beaten path!
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
We live close to this old covered bridge. There isn't a lot of parking but it's worth the visit if you are in this area or passing through. If you love old covered bridges and dirt roads and the view of water running over rocks; you'll enjoy this place! It's peaceful, quite and once in a while you can see you a deer walk by. The architecture of the bridge is interesting. Makes a great place for prom, homecoming and senior pictures too. See more..

-A great place to learn about the history of watkinsville
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
The Eagle Tavern is one of the earliest surviving structures in Oconee County. The Eagle Tavern was built, we know, by 1801. The Eagle Tavern served primarily as a stagecoach stop (hotel and tavern) and gathering place in the early 1800's. Located on the Antebellum Trail, the museum depicts life and travel lodgings in the early 1800's. Tours begin across the street at the Oconee County Welcome Center. See more..
- 3.5 Oconee Heritage Park (2 reviews)
-Great trails for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding. Arena for rent and a couple of historic buildings
Spent 1-2 hours Parks
I've spent hours horseback riding there. The woods and creeks are beautiful and one trail abuts the Appalachee River for a short distance. Mountain bike trails are rated as some of the best in the state. If you aren't familiar with the part, printing out a map from the website would be a good idea. Hikers should take water and maybe a snack if you are hiking the whole perimeter. A recent port-a-potty at the parking lot is a welcome addition. See more..
