    - Good Restoration of a Prairie Style Home
Sunday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
Frank Lloyd Wright's Westcott House image
The Westcott House was built in 1908 for Burton J. And Orpha L. Westcott. The Westcott property is the only Prairie style house designed by Wright in the state of Ohio. The grounds include the main house and a garage with pony stable connected by an extensive pergola. In 1946, due to the housing crisis following World War II, the house was divided into multiple apartments. The house no longer reflected the vision of its architect. The original furniture and most of the original light fixtures and other details were removed from the house. Lack of resources led to an extreme deterioration of the structure. The house has recently undergone a multi-million restoration. Each of its features - from art glass to original hardware and hand-decorated encaustic walls to massive urns - has been returned to its 1908 appearance. Furniture has been rebuilt according to Wright's specifications and gardens re-landscaped in keeping with the time. The house is now managed by a non-profit organization. See more..
  7. 4.5 Heart of Ohio Antique Center (177 reviews)
    - Good Antique Mall

Heart of Ohio Antique Center image
We spent about 4 hours in this antique mall. There was lots of variety! The prices varied and we did find some of our specific collectibles at very good prices. What was most impressive was that there was lots of staff around to help open cases AND they had the correct keys...not typical in the antique malls we have been to. There was a little cafe; prices seemed high to me and we did not buy anything. Overall, this was a good stop. See more..

    Hartman Rock Garden image
A friend told me about this wonderful place and so on our way home from the Ohio /state Fair we stopped by here with our four grandchildren (ages 10 to 15). It is astonishing what one man and then one woman were able to create. I particularly liked the Last Supper, the Nativity, and Mount Vernon replicas. All the grandkids enjoyed themselves and asked lots of questions! Admission is free and donations are appreciated. No one approached us or asked for funds but we gave cheerfully. I will now take every out-of-town visitor we get to this wonderful display. See more..

Such a beautiful park to spend a few hours at. Ample things to do for the entire family. We enjoyed the Woodland Indian Village, exploring the different type of buildings that were found in an Indian village. Not only did we enjoy the village, but the trails as well. Trails were easily marked and were suitable for all ages. We enjoyed the trail that to took us to the waterfall just above Hosterman Lake. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy the outdoors for hiking and picnicking. Or looking to learn how local Indians lived and took care of the land. Want to return when the nearby interpretive center and historical house are opened (closed due to COVID) See more..
  12. 4.5 Springfield Antique Center (34 reviews)
    - Found several antiques today
Spent More than 3 hours Antique Shops
    Springfield Antique Center image
My wife and I usually stop by after visiting the Heart of Ohio Antique Mall. This one is a lot smaller by comparison, but still a good size and worth a stop. Sometimes, you hit a bonanza of items you're interested in. My wife is always on the lookout for Disney items. They had a huge selection during our visit. Mostly in the glass case aisles. I usually look for antiques to either use or display in my woodworking shop. I found a couple items, as well. We usually stop in at least once each year. As with all antique shops, the inventory changes frequently and most items are the only one they have. Have an idea of what your interested in and the cost you expect to pay. Similar items can vary widely in cost from one dealer to another in the same store. We recommend. See more..

I have dined here on many occasions. The location is wonderful with views of the golf course. The dining room is comfortable and has a great big fireplace on one side. The bar is a great spot to sit and have a drink or a bite to eat after a long day. On this evening I had Leeann as my server. She was great! The food was also great. I had a bowl of chili and some boneless chicken wings to start and the southwestern chicken salad as my meal. I will definitely be back. It's nice to have a place that offers good ambience, good food and good service that is not a big chain restaurant in Springfield. See more..

  27. 4.0 The Pennsylvania House (24 reviews)
    - More than we expected
Sunday: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • History Museums
    The Pennsylvania House image
Built in 1839, the Pennsylvania House was a popular and respected inn along the National Road. The 7000 square foot Federal-style structure was built using tenon and mortise construction. The Pennsylvania House has been included on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973. The first floor houses one of America's finest button collections. A gift of Lagonda Chapter member Grace Porter upon her death in 1948, the collection of 100,000 buttons offers a historic showcase of one of fashion's favorite forms of adornment and status. The recent restoration saw the re-interpretation of several rooms to reflect the house's use and function as an inn and tavern from 1839 to 1869. This can be seen in the recreation of the tap room, general store, ladies parlor or formal dining room, and the drovers' room. The first floor assembly room offers a pictorial timeline showing the house's place within local and national history. It is accompanied by a display of artifacts from the entire lifespan of the house discovered during the basement's excavation. The second floor children's room spotlights a fully furnished, twelve-room Federal dollhouse donated by Lagonda Chapter member Ruth Bayley. It contains period furniture in black walnut and cherry handcrafted by John Kunkel. In the 1870s, Drs. Samuel and Ada Adams rented space in the house for their joint medical practice. A second floor room in the 1850s wing has been furnished with medical equipment of the period including Dr. Samuel Adams' electroschock therapy kit. See more..
