We played the front 9 today and I can't say enough about this course. The grass was in excellent shape. We played some holes from the blue tees and others from the white ones and had a great round of golf. The greens were big and well maintained. The cart did not have annoying gps things controlling where you drive(they trust you here) and everything was very clean. I would play here again! See more..

Try the north side of the physical Spirit Lake. Talk about a relaxing experience. Beautiful water, friendly people, all the conveniences. Even if you can’t afford, or don’t know somebody with a house in one of the lakeshore communities, you can still experience the getting-away-from-it-all feeling of the Spirit Lake area at Mini-Wakan State Park or for camping, try Loon Lake Campground, just a few miles north over the Iowa/Minnesota border. Spirit Lake may be one of the best-kept secrets in Iowa travel. It has all the amenities of its more-famous neighbor Okoboji, but Spirit Lake township has preserved the beauty, and ambiance of rural living around Iowa's largest lake. You can ride your bicycle all around Spirit Lake, thanks to the wonderful new bike trails the town built, and there is even a winery, Little Swan Lake Winery, about 15 minutes away. I went back and forth between a 3 or 4 star rating but decided to give Superior 71 the benefit of the doubt. Cons: It opened about 20 minutes later than their website stated, so we wasted 20 minutes sitting at the gate. We were then greeted by multiple postings of rules stated rather harshly and sarcastically. As an owner of multiple businesses myself, I'm not a big fan of that. Also, the screens are definitely the smallest we've ever seen at a drive-in. Lastly, the grounds were not in the best condition. Pros: It's a drive-in, and drive-ins are disappearing quickly. The concessions were good and reasonably priced. The bathrooms were very nice and well-maintained. We're big fans of drive-ins and have visited many of them across the country. This one certainly isn't the nicest or most welcoming drive-in, but it's hard for us to rate any drive-ins very low. We hosted a family event there a few years back and the venue was outstanding. Views from the shelter house are exceptional, and the kitchen area is very useful. It was cool and quiet in the summer with a nice breeze. Everyone raved about the location. See more..

We sampled eight beers and we liked all of them which is very rare at a brewery. I like sours and found the Beatnik sour to be excellent. My husband especially liked the coffee beers and the tangerine wheat. We would go here again and again! See more..

The Kettleson area is a short ways out of town but totally away from the lights and commercial areas of the Iowa Lakes. There is ample parking and a series of trails where you can enjoy the ecosystems see a wide variety of trees and other plant life. You are also liable to see animal life in the form of frogs, turtles, birds, Deer and maybe even a Fox. The area is fun to hike in the spring, summer and fall but don't discount the beauty during the winter as it can be a fun place to go snowshoeing, cross country skiing. See more..

We camped with 2 other couples and were able to get sites side by side. They are long pull thru sites. The electric and water are near the back end of the site. Be sure to have enough cord, if you want to park in the center of the pull thru. There are only 7 sites, so book early. It offers biking and walking trails. Factory Tours

My brother and I did a day trip to take the factory tour for Indian Motorcycles. I mad a reservation through email for a time. I think they only do tours on Monday & Friday mornings. It is best to make a reservation. You get a short video about the factory, and some safety info. The tour walks you through the actual assembly area where they are building the bikes. Our tour guide was a former employee who did inspections of bikes before they left the factory. Other tours are given by some of the engineers, which would have been fun too. There is a nice lobby area with bikes displayed, some of which you can sit on and try out for size, and a gift shop. See more..
