    - For Local Art in Spartanburg
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries
    West Main Artists Co-Op image
If you really want to see locally produced art in Spartanburg (or Sparkle City or the Hub City) West Main Artists Co-Op is the place to go for the biggest and most diverse collection. More than 50 local artists have their work on display and for sale there. Not only can you see the finished work, you might even get to see art being made. Many artists have working and/or gallery studios in this old converted church. There are several "shop" rooms, several galleries, and lots of small studios where artists paint, sculpt, make videos, take photos, throw pots, make music, etc. It is a great place to see the real creativity of Spartanburg. 2. 5.0 The Children's Museum of the Upstate (8 reviews)
    - Great spot for young children
    Spent 1-2 hours Children's Museums
The Children's Museum of the Upstate image
This place is an excellent option for children seven and under. Even our nine-year-old kid had fun entertaining his toddler brother. This is a fantastic place because it is both fun and educational. The tactile experience helps them learn while they play. There is a very large water table with multiple activities for them to play around with. My kids probably could’ve spent the entire time there alone. There are multiple stations for building things. Among the other options is a railroad table, a tree house , a cafe, a medical station and a play grocery store. This place has a crafts room which is used for both visitors and for camps but they set up during the summers. It’s a very good value and essentially located. There is on street parking and a garage across the street with the first two hours free. They offer military discounts too! We have been to many children’s museums and multiple states and this one is one of the better ones for very young kids. See more..

  7. 4.5 BMW Zentrum (411 reviews)
    - Awesome tour and tour guides
Tuesday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Speciality Museums
    BMW Zentrum image
My wife booked our tour way in advance and still couldn't get the two hour tour in the afternoon. We took the one hour tour in the morning. You start in the BMW museum where they break you up into smaller groups. You are driven to the assembly plant on a really nice motor coach. At the factory you are given safety glasses and earbuds so you can hear the tour guide while you are on the factory floor. The tour through the assembly line lasts about an hour with the guide giving you information about each part of the assembly process. It is amazing how organized this plant is. They make you turn off your phones and no cameras, video or pictures are allowed on the tour, but you are free to take as many as you like in the museum. If you ever get the chance to take this tour, do it, it is well worth the money. Super educational and will give you a new perspective on how automobiles are made. See more..

This park has a storied history in the State of South Carolina. A WW2 military base, several generational farms throughout the years, a revolutionary war site, a world renown resort based on a wondrous water claim on a local Spring (also on the park), have all left their mark on this beautiful area that has been set aside for you! What you are left with is an area with great camping and RVing, a lake where you can fish and or rent boats, horse facilities, and trails (hiking, Mt biking, horseback riding) that crisscross old cemeteries, ruins, and beautiful views. There are picnic areas, playgrounds, and facilities galore. All of this is just 15 minutes outside of Spartanburg! This is another State Park Gem you don’t want to miss. There is a modest entry fee (3$ for adults) and way too much to do in a day. Yet Another reason to just buy the park pass.... See more..

    Glendale Shoals Preserve image
We were looking for some where cool to walk our dog while we were staying in Spartanburg. This was a gem and a great find. It was a beautiful walk beside a stream with waterfalls. I love waterfalls! There is part of the trail that goes up a hill. It is in a circle area. I'm not sure I would have found it if it weren't for our dog insisting to go that way. I was glad she did. We found ourselves in the middle of a field of bamboo. It was very cool to walk through. GPS took us to the wrong side of the bridge where there isn't any parking. After walking across the bridge we found parking so we moved our car instead of leaving it on the roadside. This was a very enjoyable morning walk. See more..

    Old Anderson Grist Mill image
I've known this building since late 2002, at first I thought, "kinda junky looking, should be fixed up", but I have known it for 16 years now, and I know it's place in SC history. I was there on Thursday, the 9th, 2019, at the time, it was undergoing restoration, and there was no building there, and it looked very odd after knowing it for so long! Very early in restoration, I had the chance of going inside, and I can't wait for it to be finished, and see the wheels moving, and how it will function. Very excited about that! I also love the sound of the Tyger River flowing by it. It really is a peaceful place! See more..
