  1. 5.0 Millers Head (1 review)
    - Nice Hike with a View from Skyland
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    Millers Head image
We stayed at Skyland and hiked the Millers Head Trail which was .8 miles each way (out and back) for a total of 1.6 miles round trip. Some elevation changes on the way up but nothing too strenuous. Nice observation point at the top, apparently the site of a former fire tower. The trailhead is clearly marked and is right near the amphitheater and the “Franklin” rooms cluster at Skyland. No need to drive anywhere for this hike if you are staying at Skyland. See more..
  2. 5.0 Town Of Shenandoah History Museum (1 review)
    - Great Local History, Railroad and Military Museum
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM History Museums
Town Of Shenandoah History Museum image
A brand new site converted from the old grain mill, this museum offers the best of three different themes; Amazing local history connecting past and present information about the Town and the surrounding area that affected it's current existence, great information about the effects of the railroad on the early creation of the town and the current station there, and a very nice display of the connection to American involvement in military history, including a detailed and very well presented connection to the USS Shenandoah's 4 DIFFERENT warships that makes this a must-see stop for students of those vessels and it's crews. Still offering many of the print and genealogy services from the old building Monday -Tursday. See more..
  3. 3.5 Fisher's Hill (5 reviews)
    - Fisher's Hill Battlefield, Fisher's Hill, VA
    Battlefields
    Fisher's Hill image
Just off of Rte 11 (Old Valley Pike) sits Fisher's Hill Battlefield. This area is largely undeveloped with 2 interpretive signs, a mowed path allowing visitors to walk to the top of the "Gibraltar of the Shenandoah", and the iconic split rail fence that can be found at nearly all Civil War battlefields. The site has no facilities but is close enough to Strausburg and Tom's Brook (both Civil War battlefields in their own right) to snag a beverage or snack. The sign on the very top of the hill is weather-worn and unreadable and hopefully will be replaced in the near future. See more..
