Ellwood H. May Environmental Park image
Came here for the first time on a Saturday with my sister. We were amazed at the very well taken care of trails that offered a nice walk in nature. We saw a deer and a Blue Heron on our walk. We enjoyed the trails and the prairie. We unfortunately arrived after hours so didn't get an opportunity to see what the building had to offer. This is definitely worth the free price of admission. The building is something to behold in itself & make sure to tour each of the bathrooms. LOVE the unique artists featured, especially Nek Chand with his amazing figures covered in mosaic-like china. Clearly Ruth DeYoung Kohler had an eye for the unusual, unsung artists who often are overlooked. The art gave so much food for thought & defined people who color outside the lines to our enjoyable benefit. See more..

    Sheboygan Visual Artists image
Full disclosure: I am one of the 70+ professional and amateur artists who make up the all-volunteer non-profit gang that is SVA - Sheboygan Visual Artists. So I'm there on the Final Friday of every month (except December and August). Every one is different but the common denominators are: • Original art on display • Free hors d'ouevres and cash bar • Live music or some other entertainment • Usually live art-making demos, often with hands-on make-it-and-take-it opportunities. • 100 - 200 friendly folks coming, going, or staying for the whole time (6-10pm) The venue is on Erie Ave -- the main east-west entrance to Sheboygan -- at the corner of 12th Street. It's part of a former factory and has that "urban industrial loft" atmosphere. Very real; no pretense; lots of creativity. A hidden gem / unique experience. See more..

John Michael Kohler Arts Center image
I visited the John Michael Kohler Arts Center this weekend and was so impressed with the exhibits, the beauty and simplicity of the building, and the friendliness of all the staff I encountered. The gardens were also wonderful and there are lots of peaceful places to sit. I felt very safe visiting during COVID as the museum has great policies in place (limited entry, ability to make reservations online, hand sanitizer in each room, etc) and would recommend this amazing museum to anyone looking for some beautiful and thought-provoking art. - Love their flag!
    Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
    Acuity Flagpole image
The flagpole and memorial can be visited at any time. Flag Facts: 70- by 140-foot flag is the world's largest free-flying American flag. Tallest flagpole in North America--nearly 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. 400-foot flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. Over 500 gallons of paint cover the pole. 11-foot diameter at base tapers to 5 1/2-foot diameter at top. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration. Designed to withstand a low temperature of -42 degrees Fahrenheit. The 9,800-square-foot flag, which weighs 340 pounds, is more than four times the size of the average U.S. home. Each star is nearly 3 feet across and each stripe is over 5 feet high. Acuity is proud to dedicate the Veterans memorial at the base to all who assure our freedom and to those that continue to serve. We owe our gratitude and thanks for their service and sacrifice. There are more than 750 inscribed pavers at the base of the pole that list the names of every Sheboygan County Veteran killed in the line of duty. A full list of names along with a map with the location of each can be found in a free handout at the base of the flagpole. The flag may be taken down temporarily during times of maintenance (please check our website) or severe weather. The flag will be lowered to half staff during official observances. See more..

    - Amazing Store

    Evans image
What an amazing store. My mom had grown up in Sheboygan Falls and we were on our way through on the way to Door County. We had a cabin for a week at the lake and this was the perfect place to stop before the trip to pick up some toys for our kids. They were absolutely in love with the selection and it was great seeing their eyes light up with the turn down every aisle. We had heard about the store on Wisconsin PBS Around the Corner with John McGivern. So glad that we visited and we will be back next time we are in the area. See more..
  18. 4.5 Victorian Chocolate Shoppe (34 reviews)
    - Remember Penny Candy?
Tuesday: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    Victorian Chocolate Shoppe image
Although this store specializes in fresh chocolate, I found it to be wonderful for the nostalgia of 1960's favorites... No longer sold for a penny-a piece, flying saucers, pixy sticks, & candy buttons can be found... sold in bagged clusters at reasonable rates. It's a great little treat after lunch or dinner amidst restaurant favorites. It's also a great idea for take home treats and gifts. The store is charming, well-organized, and entirely friendly. Go there without the kids or you'll never get out! See more..

    - Walk, jog, swim, picnic, sail, fish ....
    Spent 2-3 hours Parks
    Deland Park image
Great lakefront park. It is a wonderful place to do all of the above. But we were moved by the impressive black granite Lao, Hmong, and American Veterans Memorial. It is a testiment to the sacrifice of those men and women involved in the "secret war." Clio was amazed at the mozaics, over 900 area students helped design the artwork. It's well worth a stop. We also enjoyed seeing the ship remains, interesting look at century old ship building. See more..
  22. 4.5 Harbor Pointe Miniature Golf (16 reviews)
    - Small but fun course that is well themed and clean!!
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Game & Entertainment Centers
    Harbor Pointe Miniature Golf image
The last little stop of our Wisconsin trip was this miniature golf course not far from the Sheboygan lakefront. Unsurprisingly it is nautical themed with a lighthouse and small boat among the items you will see. Yes it is small but the holes are no smaller than your typical 18 hole course and they neatly crammed 18 holes in a small space. Nicely kept up as well and not a bad price!!! See more..
  23. 4.5 Highway 42 (6 reviews)
    - When I was a kid
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Drives
When I was a kid, this was how people traveled between Sheboygan and Manitowoc. Now days most of the traffic travels on I-43. This leaves, a still well maintained, Hwy 42 a very pleasant drive. This road meanders through the country side. A nice low traffic way to take a nice bike ride, as there won't be many cars trying to kill you (bikers know what I'm talking about). Don't forget to stop at the Smiling Moose Saloon and Grill in Osman. Your trip will take you through Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Kewaunee, Algoma and Sturgeon Bay. There are all sorts of taverns, restaurants, and things to stop and explore. Take this highway all the way to the tip of Door County. If you're on a roll, take the ferry to Washington Island. Highway 42 is low in traffic, well maintained and a pleasurable ride on any bike, Schwinn or Harley. See more..
  24. 4.5 Sheboygan Quarry Park (4 reviews)
    - Xmas Lights
Tuesday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Water Parks
Great show - I would recommend the xmas lights, visit with Santa, treats and great choral music. Take the trolley tour - it is well worth the minimal cost. See more..
  25. 4.0 Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center Water Park (231 reviews)
    - “Amazing views”
Tuesday: Spent More than 3 hours Water Parks
Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center Water Park image
There’s something magical about lounging comfortably in a bathing suit, a beverage in your hand and happy kids splashing at your feet — if the weather outside is beautiful or not. There’s no wrong season to escape to Breaker Bay, Blue Harbor’s year-round indoor waterpark in Wisconsin. It’s always a balmy 84 degrees inside this 54,000-square-foot entertainment area and waterpark. Breaker Bay’s Sheboygan waterpark offers the ideal escape for both kids and parents: It’s large enough to afford adventurous young ones a touch of independence yet small enough for parents to feel kids are safe and supervised. And with the debut of The Riptide, the only double surf simulator in eastern Wisconsin, the thrills will keep your kids coming back for more. See more..
  26. 4.0 Lottie Cooper Shipwreck (23 reviews)
    - Unique historical shipwreck display
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Lottie Cooper Shipwreck image
I have never seen a display like this and I really enjoyed it! I'm a history buff in general and seeing this actual shipwreck, reclaimed and reconstructed was fascinating to me. It was the next best thing to scuba diving and viewing the wreck. I loved seeing and understanding the size of the ship and seeing the construction. The signs explaining the information about the ship were helpful but one problem was that some of them need repair, being worn and impossible to read. I hope the city of Sheboygan is able to maintain this display and its signs for people in the future. It's unique and quite informative! See more..

    Indian Mounds Park image
Very interesting collection of sacred (but disturbed) Native Peoples burial mounds from 500-750 AD. There are 18 mounds! There is helpful signage. The mound that was supposedly open was sealed when we were there. We paid our respects and enjoyed the wooded trail. See more..
  28. 3.5 Old Plank Road Trail (16 reviews)
    - A workout!
    Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
    Old Plank Road Trail image
Today we biked from Plymouth to Greenbush. Mostly uphill on the way there. There is quite an elevation. However, on the way back it was mostly downhill. Note: once you pass the gas station that will be the only restroom for the next 8 miles until you reach the end of the trail at the log cabin. The restroom is a drop toliet in the parking lot behind the log cabin. We bike this trail often, but this part of the trail was definitely the most difficult. See more..
