We have rented a double kayak the last two years on our anniversary week. We enjoy paddling around South Cove on Lake Keowee. This year we wore new life vests that were very comfortable and designed with kayaking in mind. The service at the lake was excellent as well. It is 43,000 acres of wonderfulness. Many trails, paths, waterfalls, and Lake Jocassee. I can be reached by boat from Jocassee, or hiking along CaneBrake trail ( 8 miles or so each way) or the Foothills trail connector near Jumping off rock. It can be a challenge to hike around but the views and scenery are worth it You can do day hikes or overnights and camp under the stars. Depends what you want.
