    St. Phillips Island Ferry image
Our group of 6 (4 adults, 1 teen and 1 tween) had a great time and highly recommend if you’re in the Beaufort SC area. We were staying on Fripp Island so it was a quick trip to Hunting Island State Park where we met a park ranger who took us to the boat landing across the street where we met the naturalists from Coastal Expeditions. Claire from Coastal Expeditions did a fantastic job explaining the ecosystem as the ferry made its way to the island. She also led us to the beach by tram, pointing out more along the way. Wear sunscreen, bug spray, comfortable shoes. See more..

Low Cast Inshore Fishing Charters image
Captain Kenny was outstanding and worked diligently to ensure our twin boys had fun and caught some nice fish! We ended up with some nice fish. Some were too big for keeps, but we did end up with a few just the right size to bring home for a good meal! My boys said it was more fun with Captain Kenny than those high dollar off shore chargers in Florida. Will definitely book with Low Cast Charters again! See more..

    Chapel of Ease image
This place is at first glance a southern ruin but what you actually have is a witness to American history. This place saw the American revolution, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. It’s tabby walls, built by people not always treated well by this country, still survive and thrive, as do the descendants of the builders - many of whom still live in the area. It’s moss draped oaks are the picture of southern beauty. Definitely worth a stop. See more..

Recently took a girls weekend getaway trip to Beaufort and took a kayaking excursion with The Kayak Farm. Eric was great! He was incredibly patient with my two friends who had no idea what they were doing, but also very informative and entertaining as he shared stories of kayaking and the low country. Dolphins swam nearby and the weather was perfect at the end of September when we went. A really fun day and an outdoor activity that anyone can do! I would definitely recommend working with Eric and The Kayak Farm if you are interested in kayaking in Beaufort! See more..

Penn Center is one of the most significant African American historical and cultural institutions in existence today. - Good insight into the history of Dataw Island

Sams Plantation Complex Tabby Ruins image
Attended a lecture and tour of the ruin site arranged by the Osher Life Long Learning Institute. Gated, planned golf club community of Dataw Island is gorgeous, and this site sits right between part of a golf course and their tennis courts. The lecture was given in their brand new history center building, and outlined the history of this area and site over the last 12,000 years--from its original indian inhabitants to the Sams and other families and owners and their efforts to develop the island during the Colonial era through the Civil War and subsequent eras, and on up until the current day. Informed lecturers, the ruins were right outside the door, and both served to give us a good impression of what life might have been like here a few hundred of years ago. See more..
