This park is a few miles north of 1-20 on Hwy. 33 in Ruston. Known for it's bike trails, this park offers wide paved walking paths around a beautiful lake, hookups for campers as well as tent sites, picnic areas and pavilions. The dogwood trees in spring are truly spectacular. This is one of the most well-maintained parks we have ever visited. See more..

The City of Ruston took an old abandoned railroad right-of-way and turned it into a scenic, walking trail through the woods on the northwestern edge of town. From the I-20 service road, the Rock Island Greenway goes north to the intersection of Chatauqua Road and W. Kentucky (it's about a mile in length--or two miles if you walk down and back) . The Greenway is a quiet, peaceful place to jog or walk and talk and it's open during daylight hours. Parking is available at the power substation on W. Kentucky. See more..

I loved seeing the old Dixie movie house...looked just as nice as it was in the 60's. and the lobby houses the temporary home of the Wible Family Quilts- a fine collection of quilts. We enjoyed every minute. I even explored the balcony! Beautiful with a huge chandelier over sea the entire movie house. I don't think they show the movies anymore, but have theatrical plays now, a community event, held regularly. See more..

This place is new and gigantic. Covering 185 acres it includes multiple fields/courts for baseball, softball, tennis, football/soccer, T-ball, and an indoor gym. We enjoyed this park while visiting Ruston. We parked in one of the shaded spaces in the parking lot; about 5 of the 20 spaces were shaded. Then we walked the 0.5 mile paved loop around the park. From there we walked the entire 5 mile length of the Road Island Greenway, and we walked back. The park itself was in tip top condition; shaded playground, exercise equipment, picnic shelter, rest rooms, and gazebo. See more..
