   Normally, a stop at a visitors center might not seem too exciting. But for travelers with a dog and/or kids, this one is a god send. This visitors center is just off I-95 and has a DOG RUN! And within walking distance there is a Chick-Fil-A, Starbucks & gas station! Fido can stretch his legs, kids can get their Chick-fil-As, parents can get a Starbucks fix, and the car can get gassed up all in one stop.    We went to the theatre to see in concert. The venue is huge, around 1000 seats. The sound was excellent the lights were great. The band was excellent and the ticket prices were good. We will be back. See more..

   This museum is near I-95 and is the actual old power plant building from 190. There are many displays on the history of the area of Roanoke Rapids, including the canals. There is a trail around the museum. The fee as of December 2014 is $4 and the bathrooms were really clean. The building is stroller/wheelchair friendly and does have an elevator for the basement displays. The museum shop is really just the size of a closet and could be improved upon. The bridge over the Roanoke River to get to the museum from I-95 has a pull over with a parking lot on the side. You can drive under the bridge and get pictures of the river. See more..
