   This site is a truly hidden gem of American history. The guided tour is a wonderful experience that upfolds the history of the patriots who lived here and served not only Ripley, Ohio's spiritual needs, but the physical needs to former slaves fleeing to freedom. The recreated period rooms let one feel like walking back into the era. Here you can see the actual signal that led to freedom and walk the ground where the opening scenes of Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin actually occurred. This is a must-see site. See more..

   My wife and I enjoyed an excellent Valentine's Day dinner at Meranda-Nixon Winery - well worth the 90-minute drive from our home east of Dayton. Each component of the 5-course meal, along with commensurate wine pairings, were delightful. We had several team members help with the meal, but Josie was primary - wow, what a fantastic personality and hard worker! We enjoyed visiting briefly with Maura - she did a great job as always getting around to all of her guests. We look forward to this summer's first BBQ and her 'cowboy beans!' See more..

   This man is an exceptional figure in the history of the Underground Railroad. He was separated from his family and sold into slavery at age 8. He worked to buy his freedom, then risked it all by helping others to escape slavery. The docent at this house had extraordinary knowledge of the man. See more..

   I love these kind of museums packed with local history...plenty here for history buffs...loved the clothes upstairs and learned a lot from Dan who shared tobacco and civil war history. It had a lovely example of one of the pianos made at the Ripley Piano Factory and I enjoyed seeing it as well as many of the other Ripley memorabilia. See more..
