Things to do & places to visit in Reno, Nevada, United States

Reno cover image
Nevada's "other" gambling and resort town, Reno is located in the western part of the state near the California border. What the city lacks in glitz or reputation it more than makes up for in attractions and amenities. There are first-rate hotels, golf courses and casinos to rival its southern counterpart and, also like Las Vegas, Reno has become a popular destination for families. Galena Creek Park offers nature trails that even young children can navigate, plus organized educational events for families.

  17. 4.5 Reno Air Racing Association (227 reviews)
    - Good memories of the air races
    Sunday: Mysterious Sites
    Reno Air Racing Association image
The events each day during the Reno Air Races are staffed by volunteers who have a passion for flight. Unfortunately it’s obvious that the old cliche of “the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing “ fits the way things are handled from moment to moment. It was frustrating to make arrangements with the management and volunteers for my wife and I to use disability scooters on their grounds for 3 days, even though we paid $1256.00 for tickets and seating. We are now, not sure if we will ever return to the races in the future, as it may not be worth the hassle. See more..

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park image
We came to the park to see the hot air balloon race. While it's not the same as the baloon festival in Albqureque, it was nice. Several balloons. Beautiful to see the glow show and dawn patrol. They had several vendors and plenty of portapotties. Enoyed our time here. See more..

  23. 4.5 Idlewild Park (69 reviews)
    - Idlewild Park visit the best of Fall or Spring in Reno
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Gardens • Playgrounds
    Idlewild Park image
I have been in the city of Reno for 12 years and because the area is not as green as I would prefer (being from Patagonia Chile), visiting Idlewild Park has been a blessing in town. It's the typical walk you need to put in order your ideas or the place to run to get in a better mood. My favorite seasons at the park are Spring and Fall because of the wonderful colors, the baby ducks and little wild animals you can see around. Some festivals are celebrated there such as the Earth Day, or a family gathering event I love, the Reno Street Food. See more..

    - Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive....I'm gonna be a cowboy.......
    Equestrian Trails
    Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive image
If you've ever had a yearning to go back in time and live the dream of being a cowboy, then DO NOT miss the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive. Sitting in the saddle for five days driving 300 head of cattle 100 miles will certainly help make your dream come true. Everything from the strict dress code (cowboy dress only), the incredible food that is prepared out on the range, live cowboy entertainment every night, falling asleep under the stars being serenaded by coyotes, no cellphone service, and the dirt you will accumulate out on the trail, although showers are available for the city slickers unable to make the complete transformation, will ride with you on into Reno to deliver the herd to the Reno Rodeo. The people at every level, from the administrative offices all the way to the wranglers who keep all us 'yahoos' safe and learning the cowboy way are 'Top Drawer'. This experience gets an A++ from this cowboy wanna be!!!! See more..

  28. 4.0 Casino at Silver Legacy Resort (1.107 reviews)
    - Top-Notch Casino
    Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Casinos
Casino at Silver Legacy Resort image
My brother and I were in town for a week and we spent much of our time here. The Silver Legacy actually connects with the Eldorado and Circus Circus on the 2nd floor level, so you can go from casino to casino, staying indoors, which was nice because the weather was pretty nippy outside. There was a neat-looking Steam Punk Tower thingy located inside, somewhere in the middle of these three casinos. The Silver Legacy had the only poker room I could find in the downtown Reno area. We had a blast! See more..
  29. 4.0 Atlantis Casino (1.060 reviews)
    - Amazing!!
    Atlantis Casino image
There is non-stop excitement at this casino that features well-known games including slots, keno, table games and video poker. See more..
  30. 4.0 Casino at the Eldorado (726 reviews)
    - Table minimums too high
    Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Casinos
    Casino at the Eldorado image
Most of the tables were closed or empty and I believe that a lot of the reason is that they had $25 minimums. Few of the people playing looked like they should be playing $25 minimums. I didn't play a lot because of the high units. Went to another casino away from the row to find realistic minimums. Should have a non-smoking section as the air was toxic. Much cleaner at Atlantis and Grand Sierra. See more..
