  6. 5.0 Danny Boy Pipes (2 reviews)
    - A positive experience at their Bristol Renaissance Faire location
    Speciality & Gift Shops
    Danny Boy Pipes image
An interesting selection of pipes, pipe supplies on their web site (with referrals of where to get tobacco). Their web site says they have stores at 13 different renaissance fairs; so far I've only visited their store at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Bristol, Wisconsin. Their web site selection is well represented here, along with tobacco. There is also a "smokers' area" off to one side for smokers to socialize. The staff is very helpful in explaining how to properly use a pipe for beginners--great customer support! See more..
  7. 5.0 Root River Environmental Education Community Center (2 reviews)
    - Hidden, but Worthwhile
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
This is a Racine City and UW-Parkside joint venture. City is to provide the facility and maintenance and UWP the program. City does nothing. My son did his Eagle Scout project here to clean up years of overgrowth and it took four dump trucks of refuse away. UWP has a good environmental program geared at Elementary-age children. UWP also runs a kayak and canoe rental to paddle up-down the Root River. No one knows of this place, which makes it a great place to spend an afternoon. See more..

    - Wings are INCREDIBLE!
    Bars & Clubs
I wanted to order wings for one of my classes - Seniors. This is where they all go so I figured I might as well order from there. The ordering process was too easy - did it on instant message and they were so easy to work with. The wings, however, were INCREDIBLE! Medium was medium and Hot was Hot! EXCELLENT! It is worth also bringing home 45 minutes away they are that good! See more..

  10. 5.0 Joey's Bars (1 review)
    - Good People
    Bars & Clubs
I've been to the Joey's on 6th a number of times and always appreciate the friendly service! Kim is the best! The prices aren't half bad either! Joey's gives you that neighborhood bar feel. There's plenty of TVs to watch sporting events, darts and pool to pass the time, or load the juke box to jam out. No matter what you're feeling, Joey's can accommodate. See more..

  12. 4.5 Wind Point Lighthouse (310 reviews)
    - Beautiful and Relaxing
Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Lighthouses
    Wind Point Lighthouse image
Beautiful light house on the shores of the majestic Lake Michigan. There are pretty flower gardens, picnic tables, and benches near the shore line where you can sit and relax taking in the beauty of the sail boats in the distance and the sounds of the waves hitting the huge rocks. Clean restrooms are available. The light house has tours with the opportunity to climb the tall tower (fee applies for climb) for a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Playing in the water on the small beach is permitted although there is no lifeguards. Seating near the shore is limited so I would recommend bringing a camp chair or a blanket and picnic. See more..
  13. 4.5 North Beach Park (196 reviews)
    - Beautiful sandy beach
    Beaches
    North Beach Park image
Sand so smooth and soft and beach overall very clean. Not very crowded (expected wall to wall people based on full parking) and plenty of room to settle and watch the gentle surf. Locals told us this was the nicest beach in the area and I would agree. See more..
  14. 4.5 Wingspread (169 reviews)
    - Retirement Trek
    Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
    Wingspread image
This was a very, very nice tour. started out with a nice video of the original family that called the place home talking about the house, then something that rarely happens at a Frank Lloyd Wright structure, you were free to explore the house on your own, to take your time and really absorb and photograph everything you want. Granted, some of the building are off-limits because it is after all the Johnson Wax retreat and a working office. One of the better tours of Wright properties I've been on. I would highly recommend this to anyone, even a non-Wright fan. I was there on a rainy day so I didn't get a chance to walk the grounds, lots of sculptures, and what looked like a nice walking trail that would have been nice to explore. See more..

    - Well spent three hours
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM History Museums
    Racine Heritage Museum image
Well above the usual collection of junk and antiques that many communities call their museum. Very low key, covers many aspects of the city and area. Three floors, well lit, no exhibits or descriptions behind reflected glass or at knee or ankle level. Admission is free, but donation is available and well worth it. There is no docent however if you have questions, but that is a small thing. See more..

  27. 4.0 Racine Masonic Center (8 reviews)
    - Awesome venue!!
    Historic Sites
    Racine Masonic Center image
Visited here a couple of times to learn more about the historic places in Racine, I was impressed by both the facility and the staff here. Ms. Spencer gave us a great tour of the building, imparting quite a few tidbits of local history that you might not find elsewhere. The building is in very good shape, we saw how the large dining room was setup for a mock wedding. The large "lodge" room was setup for a wedding ceremony, which was impressive given the amount of guests that it could support. The mansion was very engaging, each room had its own little story that tied into the story of the building in a very interesting way. The history of the place is amazing! We would definitely come back here for future events and definitely consider this when we decide to hold our wedding. See more..
