    - Short hike
    Lookouts
    Ledges Overlook image
Located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, this is an easy, enjoyable hike not far from the parking area. It really is a beautiful area, with clean bathrooms by the parking lot, as well as about midway up. There’s also a few picnic areas. No sources for drinking water, so bring your own. We went when there was some muddy areas as well as thawing snow, but it was a trail that was easy to navigate. Definitely worth a trip. See more..

    River Light Gallery image
We visited the River Light Gallery as part of our trip to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It has unusual items, and you can find pieces here within any price range. The blown glass vases and plates are colorful and gorgeous. There are glass pumpkins and angels that range in price from $30- $50. One artist had unusual antiques that were made into lamps with artistic bulbs. We purchased an old movie camera, that was made into a lamp, for our son. The owner was very friendly and gave us plenty of information about the adorable town of Peninsula. We will definitely come back to the town and the River Light Gallery! See more..

  5. 5.0 Langes Run Trail (1 review)
    - Great winter hike..
National Parks • Equestrian Trails • Hiking Trails
    Langes Run Trail image
This is officially part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This trail is a bridle & hiking trail. You park at the Wetmore trailhead. The trail starts across the street & even though it says it is a loop you would have to walk the road back but we connected with the Wetmore trail & extended it for a total of almost 5 miles. It is hilly, wooded & there were a few creeks to cross over. Hiking boots recommended. Beautiful views along the way with some tall pines too. The parking lot was spacious but filling up on a Saturday morning. There is an area for horse trailers & there was only one horse seen on our visit. See more..
  6. 5.0 Salt Run Trail (1 review)
    - Hilly loop trail..
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
    Salt Run Trail image
You will find the start of the trail on the far side of Kendall Lake. Park in the Kendall Lake lot for which there are plenty of spots. You should follow signs for the Lake trail & will walk 0.5 mile to the trailhead. The trail was frozen on a cold wintry morning & we passed a few hikers & runners on a weekend. There are multiple hills with steps & short bridges. It is wooded & on a portion you can hear road noise. You will end close to 4.3 miles because it includes the Lake trail which is a loop around the Lake. From the parking lot facing Kendall Lake you will need to walk towards the left to the Cross Country trail to catch the Lake trail. See more..
  7. 4.5 Szalay's Sweet Corn Farm (151 reviews)
    - LOVE SZALAYS! Very clean and many options to pick from!
    Saturday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Farms
    Szalay's Sweet Corn Farm image
Szalay's is always a pit stop when we bike the Cuyahoga Valley National Park trails! It's located right beside the Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center on Bolanz road. It's about 3.4 miles from the Northern Lock 29 trail head and about 1.4 miles from the Ira trail head if you're coming from the southern part of the trail. We are practicing social distancing and did wear masks. Most were wearing a mask. It wasn't very crowded when we stopped because it was close to closing time on a Tuesday evening. We did feel safe. I hope they can stay afloat so we don't loose this gem of a farmers market! Give them a stop if you're on the trail! You won't be disappointed. See more..
  8. 4.5 Towpath Bike (69 reviews)
    - Terrific family experience
    Bike Tours
    Towpath Bike image
The towpath trail is a lot of fun. It runs between the river and the old canal, and it’s fairly level. The mile nearest Peninsula (where we rented bikes) was busiest, but it also featured a great section of wide boardwalk trail. See more..
  9. 4.5 Beaver Marsh (44 reviews)
    - A calm winter stroll replete with surprises
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Beaver Marsh image
Entering via the Ira trailhead, turn left to reach the pond. During warmer weather, one can espy ducks, frogs, cranes and other birds, snakes ❤️, several species of turtles, and of course beavers. These weren’t in evidence during our recent winter hike of course, but a local resident told us of a trail off to the right across the entrance to a small park and residential area that is normally inaccessible in other seasons due to bugs and especially thorns. We took it as a detour for about half an hour and it was wild! The trail followed a wending path toward the Cuyahoga River and revealed normally untouched wilderness that one usually would never see. We’d been to this general part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park many times and were entirely unaware of that trail. There ARE many thorn bushes to duck under and squeeze past, even in winter, so wear thick clothing. This was a new look at an otherwise familiar spot. See more..
  10. 4.5 Century Cycles (34 reviews)
    - Great service, friendly

    Century Cycles image
Our family of five brought bikes to ride on the Towpath Trail. I (adult male) was the only one that needed to rent a bike. Gentleman working there was friendly, quickly got me a bike (no one else was in the store at the time it seemed). He made an adjustment on the bike and it was ready to go. I mentioned we were looking to bike to the Beaver Marsh and he gave me good directions to get to the trail and head in the right direction. Rented for two and half hours which came to about $26. We had just bought my wife's bike second hand and purchased the wrong size handlebar grips for it before our visit to the Towpath. Century Cycles had the correct size grips that were comfortable for $11 (similar grip prices to some that I had seen on Amazon or Walmart). The gentleman took the old grips off the bike and put the new ones on in about 5 minutes with no additional charge. Great service and so happy to have the correct grips on the bike! Recommend Century Cycles! See more..

    The Spicy Lamb Farm image
The centerpiece of The Spicy Lamb Farm is a purebred production polled Dorset flock. Sheep are also grazed off site through the Urban Shepherds grazing program. In addition to the sheep, duck is being raised along with organic varieties of apples, pears, and plums. The farm also features the spicy herbs and vegetables for which it was named. Celebrating local food, fiber, and fun, the farm is a regional favorite for family agtourism events such as the Cuyahoga Valley Sheep Dog Trials. Surrounded by mature woodlands and hidden away at the dead-end part of Akron Peninsula Road, off of Boston Mills Road, in the scenic Village of Peninsula, the farm is a place of education, fascination, and inspiration. Pedego Electric Bikes Peninsula image
My mom and I did a 3 hour ride and it was so much fun! We quickly got the hang of it and we went on the trails. We went over 6 miles on the Towpath trail in Cuyahoga National Park. We rode to an area and had a little bit of ice cream, then kept riding. The workers explained how the bike worked and gave us the phone number to call if we needed them. The seat and handle bars were adjustable if needed. We were able to clip in a backpack to the back of the bike. This is a MUST if you are in the area!!!! See more..
  14. 4.5 Stanford Trail (2 reviews)
    - Out & back trail..can be extended
National Parks • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
    Stanford Trail image
This trailhead is found at the parking lot for the Stanford House in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The lot is located behind the barn. The trail is muddy for a good portion & icy in others. It is hilly with steps in areas. You can access a trail to Brandywine Falls at the far end. The scenery is wooded & you pass a creek & walk along the valley. You can take a short hike to a pond & there is a path that loops around the pond. See more..

    - Pit stop
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Visitor Centers
    Boston Store Visitor Center image
This is across the river from the Boston Visitor Center. Walk across the bridge & keep walking a few hundred feet to the store. There's some information boards nearby & across the street. This store has ice cream, snacks, drinks & information. The bathrooms are in a building in the back. Just be careful. On one side of the store is the towpath. People are whizzing along without regard for pedestrians. We saw some near misses while eating our ice cream on the porch. See more..
  17. 4.0 Everett Covered Bridge (62 reviews)
    - An Historic Covered Bridge
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
    Everett Covered Bridge image
CVNP is such a diverse park with so many different signature spots and one of those is the covered bridge in Everett. As many have said this attraction has its own parking lot and short path to the bridge over the river. You can get good pictures of the bridge from either landing side; however, the best pictures are from the river which can be reach through a short scamper in the woods. The bridge was built in the late 19th Century after a death from someone trying to ford the creek. Traffic is no longer allow. However, you can cross via foot, bike or horse. Covered bridges are so neat to see; I am glad they were able to keep this as a part of the national park. See more..
  18. 4.0 Riding Run Bridle Trail (1 review)
    - Nice winter hike..
National Parks • Equestrian Trails • Hiking Trails
    Riding Run Bridle Trail image
You park at the Everett Bridge parking lot for this trailhead and you will have to walk about 0.25 mile to start of trail. Walk through the bridge and follow path to the right along left side of the creek and then as you get to the cross road there is a sign and path to take you to the trail. The parking lot was full on a Sunday morning but this trail was not busy (we only passed a few hikers and did not see anyone riding horses today). Parts of the path were very muddy. We went clockwise on the loop and the 2nd half was more fine gravel/part road and easier to navigate. It is hilly on the first portion. It takes you through some tall pines and along a valley ridgeline. Including the walk from the parking lot and back it was 3.75 miles. You can access some other trails from this parking lot. This is part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There is a restroom at the parking lot. See more..
  19. 4.0 Pine Grove Trail (1 review)
    - Wooded loop trail..
    Hiking Trails
    Pine Grove Trail image
Use the Octagon shelter parking lot to find the trailhead which starts on the far right side of the large lot. It will head back towards the road & then you will cross the road to some steps up to the trail. It will take you to the top edge if the valley & loop back around. You can access some other trails from here. There are many downed trees in the landscape. It was muddy but manageable with hiking boots. There were only a few hikers on a weekday afternoon. See more..
  20. 4.0 Boston Run Trail (1 review)
    - Nice loop trail..
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
    Boston Run Trail image
The trailhead is on the right side of the Happy Days parking lot. Plenty of parking available. Is a hilly trail, some parts are muddy at this time of the year. Is mostly a wooded area in a valley. There is a shortcut towards the middle if you need it but the loop takes you 3.1 miles. There is some road noise along one portion. There were only a few hikers on a weekday. If you wanted to add a short hike the same day there is the Haskell Run trail (.75 mi) across the road which you access from the same lot . See more..
  21. 4.0 Cross Country Trail (1 review)
    - Straightforward loop trail...
Bodies of Water • National Parks • Hiking Trails
Pretty straightforward trail. There is an incline at the beginning & some hills going down toward the end. At this time of the year it was muddy & somewhat slippery but okay with good hiking boots. Partially wooded with some open fields & a pretty creek in the valley towards the middle of the hike. Was not busy at all for our hike midweek. The trailhead starts to the left side of the parking lot. The lot is large. You can extend the hike & take the Lake trail loop at the end. There are steps up & down at the end of that trail. It was just under 3 miles with Lake trail added on. This is part of the Cuyahoga National Park at Kendall Lake. See more..
  22. 4.0 Tree Farm Trail (1 review)
    - Nice trail but too muddy..
    Hiking Trails
    Tree Farm Trail image
Follow signs to Horseshoe pond for the trailhead & once in the parking lot the trail starts on the right end of the lot. There is a short trail to the pond but it is not actually part of the trail. The trail is really muddy right now & it takes away from the experience. You can walk on the edges for short portions but you just have to trudge through on other portions. Do not go unless you have hiking boots & are waterproof. I saw a few families who were struggling & even pets. The views include wooded areas, the edge of a tree farm with small pines & an area of tall pines where the trail was dry. Is under 3 miles if you take a walk around the pond. This is part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. See more..

    Haskell Run Trail image
You can access this trail from the Happy Days parking lot but the trailhead is across the street. There is a tunnel under the road to get there & it was .75 miles from the lot through the loop and back. You go through an old small cemetery then down & up a hill and cross over a creek. You then briefly go through a field before you get back to the Happy Days lodge. There are other trails that cab be accessed from this area ( to the Ledges). See more..
  25. 3.0 Oak Hill Trail (1 review)
    - Short loop trail..
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
    Oak Hill Trail image
This is a 1.5 mile loop trail as part of the CVNP. There is a parking lot which was near empty on a weekday in winter. It was muddy but manageable. Would be okay for kids/families since is relatively flat. You could extend the hike & do the Plateau Trail which takes off near the middle of this one. This trail us wooded & there is a small pond along the way. See more..
  26. 3.0 Lake Trail (1 review)
    - Quick trail..
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
    Lake Trail image
This takes you around Kendall Lake. Is 1 mile loop & the best place to start is to the left of the parking lot. Head towards the Cross Country trail & the Lake trail will go off to the right. It takes you through the woods then to an open area around the lake & then up a short hill with railroad-style steps which then runs briefly close to Truxell road & back to the road that takes you to the parking lot. You can access either the Cross Country trail or Salt Run trail along the way. See more..
