    Fire Lake Soapery image
We wandered into Fire Lake Soapery and what a pleasant surprise. Julie and her Husband were wonderful. They gave us a lot of information about their soaps and products. I bought several soaps and they were wrapped in a nice package. We were allowed into the workshop to wander around. Julie told us about her road to her business - it is a great story. We will definitely be back. See more..

  3. 5.0 Paola Community Center (2 reviews)
    - Family Fun
    Theatre & Performances
I love the Paola Community Center. We have had family functions there ... and we have a huge family. There is a nice kitchen with a stove, ovens, and counter space. We have decorated the tables during holidays and really enjoyed ourselves. I have taught at the summer workshops for children in the summers past and I have spent countless hours at plays, recitals, and movie nights.... the amenities are lovely. The architecture is beautiful. Well work the experience. See more..

  5. 5.0 Lake Miola Park (1 review)
    - Beautiful trail around lake
    Parks
    Lake Miola Park image
Lake Miola Trail in Paola is a fine-gravel paved trail that goes around Lake Miola, a full loop of which makes about five miles. I rode my bike one counter-clockwise loop and enjoyed the varying scenery especially the section through the woods downstream of the lake dam (south end). There were a few sections of the trail eroded from the recent rains, but otherwise most of the trail was good for easy bike riding. Six trailheads are distributed almost equidistant along the loop. The trailheads are well designed and a very detailed trail map is posted at each trailhead. There are no mile markers on the trail itself, which turns out to be not necessary. The park also has ample facilities for camping, fishing, and boating. I will certainly visit Lake Miola Trail again and ride the loop clockwise to get a different scenery. See more..
  6. 5.0 Hillsdale State Park (1 review)
    - Great Place to Camp
State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Hillsdale State Park image
We come to Hillsdale SP in Paola, Ks to stay every time we come to the area to see our son. This park has premium sites which are paved and prime gravel sites. There are no BAD sites. We can stay for 2 weeks for under $400. Full hook-ups. In addition to your camping fee you need to purchase a state park pass. If you are staying any length of time, it might be more cost effective to purchase and annual pass for $25. NOW, there are more primitive camping areas with just water and electric, no sewer and maybe some with no hook-ups. There is something for any type of camping you like to do. All the campground areas are nice. I've not had an opportunity to check out the showers and toilet facilities as the full-hook up campground does not have them. There are some small hiking trails in the park and a shooting range. Of course there is the lake if you want to bring your boat. There is also a small beach. See more..

  10. 3.0 Jayhawk Marina (3 reviews)
    - OK for what it is
    Boat Rentals
    Jayhawk Marina image
The Jayhawk Marina is simply a shop/gas station on the lake. They have your usual over priced snacks, gas, and lake sundries. They also have slip rental for long term rental/ storage. There are three boat ramps near the marina, as well as courtsey slips to park while you move your truck. Hillsdale is a great lake for fishing or just hanging out. It was created by flooding the old town that was there, and all the trees were left for fish habitats. It makes this lake pretty crummy for a ton of fun skiing, tubing, or jet sking, as there are a ton of obsticles. See more..
