    The Blue Butterfly Boutique image
The Blue Butterfly is one of those places that if I lived here would get lots of my time and money. The place is just so fun and inviting right down to the fact that there is an entire room built for the owner's (Denise) dog (Sadie Belle) to stay while she works. I also love the exclusive line of jewelry by Mia Rustica that they carry there. This line is made by an artist out of Washington State. They also carry different products from a number of local artists. I also love all of the handmade bath stuff that Denise makes and carries. And let's not get started about all of the other wonderful things in the shop. They also do special events and sales frequently. My nieces will be attending Sadie Belle's birthday party in December. Lol. I just love this place!! Melanie is also a wonderful addition to the store who can guide you to any number of beautiful gifts (or stuff for yourself!). If you find yourself in the area make your way in. You won't regret it. See more..

  5. 5.0 Emily's Closet (1 review)
    - Large Selection of Fabrics with Friendly Service
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops
Emily's Closet is a quilt shop with over 1000 bolts of fabric, many of which are panels and the accompanying fabric to use with the panel. There are more panels in this store than any other I have visited in Louisiana. The store also carries a large selection of sewing notions and a number of quilting books. It does not sell sewing machines, but the owner is knowledgeable about vintage machines, especially Singer brand machines. Check the website for schedules of classes. See more..

  7. 5.0 Bayou Wheels Skate Park (1 review)
    - Great skatepark!
    Sports Complexes
This is a good place for the kids to keep them off their computers and get them outside. It has a number of ramps and rails, and even a half pipe . They rent helmets if you need and have a snack bar with drinks, candy , and even some hot food. The best thing is that it's in city park so there is plenty for the parents to do while your child skateboards..... See more..

    Rip Van Winkle Gardens image
I decided to visit the gardens on a mild January day. Many of the plants were damaged from the recent freezing weather, but this is still a peaceful and relaxing getaway for a couple of hours. I can’t wait to come back in the spring. The peacocks are fun to watch and add some additional color and beauty to the place. The lady at the gift shop said that there are about 50 of them on the grounds! I didn’t do the house tour, but plan to do so on my next visit. Same with the restaurant. See more..
  9. 4.5 Shadows-on-the-Teche (248 reviews)
    - A Blast from the Past
Wednesday: Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites
    Shadows-on-the-Teche image
Completed in 1834, the Shadows-on-the-Teche holds many layers of history in its walls and gardens. Built for wealthy sugar planters, Mary and David Weeks, the house remained in the same family for four generations before the property was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The donation also included more than 17,000 letters, invoices, and receipts, and artifacts spanning the 125 year history of the Shadows. As a former plantation home, the Shadows is a memorial to the hundreds of men, women, and children enslaved on this site and on sugar plantations owned by the Weeks family. Their stories, and those of their descendants, are a vital part of the house’s history and legacy. See more..

My husband and I enjoyed our tour and visit to the rice mill museum. Our guide was able to give us insights into the area and the mill. The tour was informative, and the video shown was very good. The store had many rice related products and we were given hot samples of cooked pecan rice. The people who operated the store were very nice. We recommend a visit. See more..

....to die for. I want to move to New Iberia now just to eat. Ate in the lively bar on a Saturday night and there was a cool little band and many friendly Louisiana folks. This is why you get off the interstate. My dinner was as above so I couldn't say how everything else is but if you are anywhere in the neighborhood, give it a try. There are tablecloths on the tables but people there were dressed in everything from snappy casual to dressed up. A delight for fans of Louisiana cuisine. See more..

  16. 3.0 CANE ROW GOLF CLUB (1 review)
    - Very Average golf course
Spent More than 3 hours Golf Courses
I played here a couple of times in February 2016 and found the course to be very average in both design and condition. The staff is very friendly. The layout is in 3 nines, Steeple; Woods and Plantation. The Steeple, by far, is the most interesting of the nines with the Plantation being the lest favorite of mine. Putting 2 nines together makes the course play to about 6300 from the blues. Slope at 129. I was most suprised that course here do not overseed like they do in AZ. The burmuda is dormant and almost all the lies I had were very thin. If you're going to play here, try to play the Steeple and Woods nines. See more..
