Springfield is known for having some great micro breweries but you need to make the trip to Neosho! Lots of great seating areas that are both kind of private and amongst other people if that’s what you want. Cool little beer garden in back too. I would call their beer menu German, but they do have a couple IPA’s as well. Bar food available. Such a cool decor and vibe here, bar keep was very nice and had a good conversation with everyone seated at the bar. Good prices on growlers and flights are by four See more..

    1872 Neosho Colored School image
In 1872 the local Board of Education purchased this small building to serve as a school for newly-freed slaves. (Please note that the designation "colored school" is the National Parks Service designation, and is an accurate, historically-correct description of the structure during the era in which it served as an educational facility.) In 1876, ten-year old George Washington Carver walked the eight miles from his home in nearby Diamond, MO, searching for educational opportunity. He spent two years studying in this building, beginning an academic career that ultimately led to a long professorship at Tuskegee Institute, along with worldwide fame as an inventor and agricultural pioneer.. After the school was moved to a better facility in 1891, this structure was returned to private use and served as a rental house for over 100 years. Many inferior modifications and additions were made during that time, and the building eventually fell into disrepair. During the summer of 2016, all modifications were removed to reveal the original Colored School House. Historical preservation by the Carver Birthplace Association, in partnership with the National Parks Service, is underway to restore the facility to its 1872 appearance. The goal is to commemorate Dr. Carver, the hundreds who studied here, and African American education in the years following the Civil War. A visit to this site is the perfect side trip from the George Washington Carver National Monument, Museum, and Park in nearby Diamond. See more..

This is a really fun place for kids and adults alike. It's a great learning experience. Fantastic and interactive play areas like the tunnel through the aquarium, and the aquarium itself. The fossil and mineral displays are also a great learning experience. Visitors get to see the entire process of the fish's life and learn about other aquatic life native to Missouri's lakes, rivers, and streams. I learned how the Missouri Conservation Department is battling zebra muscles and other invasive species that destroy native aquatic habitats. They also have annual events and party rooms. I would absolutely recommend this destination to anyone. See more..

Neosho is an interesting location. My family were some of the first settlers there in 1830. The museum is very well kept and was originally the Sheriff's office from way back when. There is quite a collection of items from the area in the two story museum. See more..
