    Virginia Gold Orchard image
Visited Virginia Gold Orchard in July 2021. This is a real hidden gem. They grow and sell various kinds of fruits in season. (Peaches when we visited). Asian pears are available now. They also sell honey, jams/jellies, syrups, apples and plums. They operate on an honor system (like the old farm stands we grew up with). You enter their building, select what you want, mark your order on a sheet and then pay in cash or by credit card. You slip the sheet with your money attached or credit card stub processed into a locked box and leave with your treasures. The peaches we purchased were wonderful. Can't wait to visit again and buy pears. Highly recommend a stop for some delicious fruits! See more..

    Natural Bridge State Park image
Once owned by Thomas Jefferson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek. The park is more than just the bridge; beautiful forests and rolling meadows showcase the area’s karst terrain, and vistas of surrounding mountains and the James River valley display nature’s splendor. Access these via 6 miles of hiking trails, including the accessible Cedar Creek Trail that leads from the bridge to the Monacan Indian Village and Lace Falls with its 30-foot cascade. Living history programs connect you to the past and cover how people once used the area’s resources for survival and inspiration. Start at the visitor center where you will find exhibits and a gift shop. A shuttle from the visitor center to the bridge trail is available for those not wishing to take the stairs. See more..

    Breweries
    Great Valley Farm Brewery image
Visited in July 2021 after exploring Natural Bridge State Park and doing a couple of hikes. Great Valley was the perfect way to cap off our day. Beautiful views from the top of the hill. Very friendly service. Nice selection of beers and wines. Some food options (chips/cheese from a cooler indoors). We tried both a beer and wine flight. They told us they are constantly changing their beer menu...depending on what is being brewed. You select from a menu of different wines or beers for the flight you want. We even bought a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel for later. They weren't really busy and we enjoyed chatting with the fellow behind the counter. Great space to spread out and enjoy the views. Highly recommend a stop at Great Valley Brewery. Reasonable prices, friendly service, great beer and wine. See more..

    - Great experience
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Zoos
    Natural Bridge Zoo image
The Natural Bridge Zoo Park is and always has been privately owned and has never accepted any sort of federal, state, or local funding. The Natural Bridge Zoo opened its doors to the general public in 1972 and has been growing ever since. The main purpose for Natural Bridge Zoo has always been the propagation and rearing of threatened or endangered species. We try to offer students and the general public the opportunity to learn about the living animals, birds, and reptiles that share the earth with us. Many children have little or no contact with natural living things in their daily lives. While television programs are educational, there is nothing like standing next to a giraffe, getting nuzzled by a llama, hugging a baby dromedary camel, or gazing into the eyes of a huge white tiger to make you feel and appreciate our wonderful world of animals.
