After visiting Crabtree Falls, I just drove a few more miles into the Blue Ridge Mountains to see this state fish hatchery. I did not know what to expect, but I thought that it was so cool that they raised trout to go to all the trout waters east of the Blue Ridge and north from Amherst County. They also have a short trail on site which was enjoyable. In the back, there is parking for those venturing onto the Appalachian Trail and going to Spy Glass. I would not make a special trip to see this hatchery, but if you are at Crabtree Falls, it is a good add-on. See more..
