  4. 5.0 Farmington Dragway (1 review)
    - Awesome!
    Exhibitions
    Farmington Dragway image
Since we are new to the area we have been taking time to explore our surroundings. I have always been into cars, my wife also likes cars and we realized the Farmington Dragway is only about 20 minutes from where we now live, lucky us! This Dragway has a long history in racing dating back to the early 1960's. It started life known as the Sportsman Park Dragway but that name was changed to Farmington Dragway in the late 1960's. In the 1960's it was running under NHRA sanction but as of 1978 it was sanction by the IHRA. It is a an 1/8th mile track. We began to follow the Dragway on social media and knew the Southeast Gassers event was taking place on both Friday and Saturday in late June. Needless to say we wanted to check it out. We arrived shortly after 1pm and paid the $20 per person at the gate. We were able to find a parking spot fairly easily and made our way towards the track. The cars had already began to qualify and you could hear them speeding down the track, it was cool! There are plenty of options for seating, some people bring pop up tents to stay in the shade, some folks bring their own chairs and there are bleachers on both sides as well. We decided to simply walk around and observe the cars as they got into position and took off from the starting line. We were also able to walk through the area in which the cars line up before racing and get some close up looks at these awesome cars. There are concession stands and restrooms. We were also able to stop by the Southeast Gassers tent and pick up a shirt, sticker and poster. While it was really hot, we did have a good time and plan to keep any eye on their social media page to plan our next trip. We also felt this would be a fun outing for other car enthusiasts or when we have friends or family visit. See more..
  5. 4.5 RayLen Vineyards (123 reviews)
    - Raylen and Ryan rock!!!
    Sunday: Wineries & Vineyards
    RayLen Vineyards image
Until Joe and Joyce Neely purchased the property, RayLen Vineyards & Winery functioned as a dairy farm for nearly a century. Today, the rolling hills and winding drive romance our guests as they drive through 35,000 European-varietal grape vines. The distinctive cupola roof top of RayLen Vineyards & Winery is a beacon for the southern portion of the Yadkin Valley Appellation. Travelers from the highway and wanderers from the surrounding country roads are drawn to the tasting room to discover a new experience. Loyal customers return for the lush vista and a reliable favorite of vintner Steve Shepard's award-winning wines. See more..
  6. 4.5 Misty Creek Vineyards (19 reviews)
    - best in show

    Misty Creek Vineyards image
Had another great day at Misty Creek, each time we go they have new wines. The Syrah which won best in show keeps getting better and better. The Chambourcin 08 is incredible. The staff which is mostly the owners, are a joy to talk to. The place is dog friendly, meaning you can bring the dog inside the tasting room. As long as friendly, the dog that is. It is just a little hard to find, there are no signs pointing the way, just follow waze. You will get there and you will be glad to have found it. See more..

  8. 4.5 Garden Gate Vineyard (2 reviews)
    - Great Wine and wonderful grapes
Spent 2-3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
I love going to this vineyard every year. I have been to several vineyards and Garden Gate Vineyard has the cleanest and most manicured vines. Very easy to walk. They have unique hand crafted gifts and soaps, locally made wine and I think they can host private parties at their vineyard. I love sampling their wine, very refreshing on a hot day after picking grapes. They also sell muscadine and scuppernong grape. The owners Sonya and Bob Whitaker are wonderful. They make you feel so welcome. Can't wait to visit next year. See more..
  9. 4.0 Pudding Ridge Golf Course (11 reviews)
    - Great for Seniors
Spent More than 3 hours Golf Courses
Pudding Ridge has always been a favorite track of my brothers and mine. We play there as often as we can. We all live in different towns 40 miles away from the course and it is a great place to meet and have fun. The course continues to be better and better each year, a credit to the owners. The course offers some fairly easy holes and some that are quite challenging as well. The greens always putt true. It is a pleasure to play there and we enjoy the peaceful country setting. See more..
  10. 4.0 Chestnut Trail Vineyard (5 reviews)
    - GREAT WINE
Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Chestnut Trail Vineyard image
Premium semi-sweet muscadine wine made only with grapes grown organically in our own vineyard. The vineyard began as the retirement project of John and Claudia Ellis, a movie studio musician/oboe teacher and a Peruvian Paso horse enthusiast. Now it's a family operation with 2 of their 6 children and their spouses joining them in their venture, along with many other family members support. Overlooking 50 acres of rolling hills and horses grazing in the pasture, they invite you to sit on their front porch, sip wine and stay awhile. See more..
