    Hawe Creek image
We have a boat on the lake so, we wanted to camp nearby. Hawe creek is a wonderful campground with large sites lots of trees and clean restrooms. I stayed with my wife and adult son. If you have small children the park does not have much to offer. I would suggest Elijah Clark State Park up the road but for us it was wonderful. See more..

Savannah Lakes Village Monticello Golf Club image
I live in this beautiful place! My husband and I retired and moved here 7 years ago. We have 2 wonderful championship golf courses, and hold an annual SwingThought Pro Tournament (previously Hooters Tour) that is very exciting. We also have 72,000-acre Lake Thurmond, and enjoy fishing and water sports. Our clubhouse has fine dining, and a Recreation Center with indoor/outdoor pools, exercise center, playhouse, and bowling. A great place to visit or live! See more..

We went to Red Rooster, the store is well organized with vendors, the also have antiques for sale and a gallery upstairs. Be sure to check out the old elevator. Prices are very reasonable and the owner is friendly. There are not a lot of shops open on main street but the store was worth the trip and the town is fun to look at. We will stop by again when we are in the area. See more..

Step back into time at the starting point of the 1852 Dorn gold mine. Learn how to pan for gold just like the oldtimers did, and you get to keep what you find. For the little ones (or for anyone who just likes pretty rocks), we have gem stones. Open May thru Oct, first and third Saturdays, and the associated Sundays. Sheltered panning area. Group tours available by appointment. See more..

We drove past the golf course on the way to the park office and the course looked in good shape. Arriving at the office revealed a large office with, part-time restaurant, rental rooms and a lodge for visitors. Much of the rooms faced right out toward the big lake. We were told that colleges bring their golf teams here for tournaments and stay in the lodge, rooms, or barracks. See more..

We visited here because it was just a little drive from Hickory Knob SP. upon getting to the parking area we immediately see a large building housing the office, bathrooms, and a nice picnic area overlooking the lake. There is also a nice playground area nearby. We drove the very narrow and rough circular road to check out the cabins n camping area. Road needs work but nice camping area. See more..
