I booked my zip line adventure over a week in advance. Once the experience was a few days away, the weather was looking questionable. Tyler reached out to offer the chance to reschedule. The adventure was truly amazing. Five zip lines of varying lengths/speeds with beautiful views made for a great time. Tyler was a great guide and extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely do again if I’m ever back in the area. See more..
  2. 5.0 The Lincoln Theater (35 reviews)
    - A Great Vintage Theatre
Spent More than 3 hours Theaters
    The Lincoln Theater image
We went for a Song of the Mountains concert and taping for PBS. This theatre is about 100 years old and beautifully restored. I understand that it is one of only 2 Mayan theme theatres in the country; and worth the visit just to see the theatre. Carson Peters and his band were great and another bluegrass band was just as good so really good entertainment. They had been closed for 10 months because of the pandemic so was great to see the first live performance in 10 months. Lincoln Theatre has about 500 seats, but were only allowed to sell about 130, and due to a snow the crowd was more like 100 I think. Everything was great. See more..

  6. 4.5 Hungry Mother State Park (337 reviews)
    - Outstanding Adventure
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM State Parks
    Hungry Mother State Park image
We came here after seeing the state park was offering a guided canoe tour by a ranger. We had never been to the park so really didn’t know what to expect, and what else got exceeded all expectations . The tour was led by a ranger naturalist. She got us set up in our kayaks and off we went. She guided us around the lake, pointing out different plants and birds, and explained the overall process of the changing color of the leaves - which were in their fall glory. This trip was amazing and it was like 10$ per. no kidding. This park also contains miles of trails, beautiful meeting places, swimming spots, a nature museum and much much more. Highly recommend - one of VAs most spectacular parks - well worth a visit! See more..

Mount Rogers National Recreation Area image
Mount Rogers has no view. The summit is completely tree covered. However, the journey was amazing. Accessing the summit via the AT and Massie Gap in Grayson Highlands, I covered 13 miles of trails on an uncrowded Wednesday in May. See more..
  8. 4.5 Park Place Drive-In (24 reviews)
    - Treat of a Drive-in Theatre
    Movie Theaters
    Park Place Drive-In image
Who doesn't love a drive-in movie in the summer time? Movies begin once the sun goes down. There's plenty of space for parking or setting up chairs and blankets, and the kids can play under the screen before the movie begins. At the back of the field there is a concession stand and bathrooms. The drive-in theatre is located behind a building that contains an ice cream shop, an arcade, inflatables, and a put-put golf course. Come with plenty of cash! Everything is cash only and there is no ATM on site. But you'll be glad you made the effort as the sun goes down and the movie of the night plays on the big screen, fireflies twinkling in the field and stars twinkling above. See more..
  9. 4.0 Highlands Dsitilling Co (2 reviews)
    - Great Distillery
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Distillery Tours
    Highlands Dsitilling Co image
We had an excellent experience at Highlands Distilling! Both Chris and Scott were friendly and welcoming. Scott’s knowledge of his craft was evident in the informative discussion we had. This is a small distillery but don’t let that deter you. We had the best experience here and the whiskey, bourbon and gin were top notch. We enjoyed all we tasted. However, the gin was outstanding! The best we’ve had. If you enjoy fine, small batch spirits this stop is a must! See more..
