  1. 5.0 Rock House (584 reviews)
    - A True Must See
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Rock House image
Out of all the hikes we did in Hocking Hills this was our favorite. The scenery looked like something out of the movie Pandora, the rock house is a pretty cool cave that you can walk through and enjoy the amazing creation of water and time. We took our 7, 8, and 10 year old daughters. they did really well. The cliffs are very steep so you must pay attention to them and where you are walking. See more..
  2. 5.0 Ash Cave (577 reviews)
    - A.C.
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
    Ash Cave image
A really peaceful and serene spot. Consider going in the evening or early when it is much less crowded. It can be a pain to find- here are the GPS coordinates: N 39 23.769 W 082 32.739. The patch is nice and flat and easy for anyone of any age or ability. It is a very short trail as well. I would love to come here when there is a lot of water coming over the falls- but its tough to time it when you live four hours away! At least try not to come in the dry season. See more..
  3. 5.0 Old Man's Cave (394 reviews)
    - Be sure to visit the visitor center
    Caverns & Caves
    Old Man's Cave image
We recommend starting at the Upper Falls (it begins at the farthest spot from the Visitor’s Center, go down into the gorge, and make your way to the Lower Falls. You will see the cave (recess) and the whirlpool going this route. From the lower falls, you can go up and out (which is what we did) or you can continue on to Whispering Cave and/or Cedar Falls. Over the last few decades work has been done to make the trail more accessible and we’d say it is moderate to easy compared to other hikes we’ve taken. Kids can easily hike it. There are dangerous places and you really should stay on the path. At the Lower Falls, you take the steps up and out to the path above and to the cement sidewalk to go back passed the Nature Center and to the Parking Lot. The paths are one way. See more..

If you are trying to select an activity in Hocking Hills, select this one. Lucas was patient, knowledgeable, safe and calming. He’s a true professional. Our whole crew was impressed. He made the aventurine a real joy for the whole group with ages ranging from 9-40s. It is a beautiful hike with tremendous rappels. I would go tomorrow if I could, the kids would say the same. Ask for Lucas! See more..

    John Glenn Astronomy Park image
This place is just amazing. The night we went there was an almost full moon. Brandon gave us an excellent lecture about the moon and the upcoming lunar eclipse. He really knows his stuff! We got to view the moon through huge telescopes. Since the moon was so bright we couldn't see a lot of stars. Now we have to go back on a dark night so we can see the milky way! If you are going during peak season (I believe all summer) make sure you go to their website and request a parking pass so they don't have to turn you away. See more..

Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve image
Very short hike to falls overlook. Permit (free) required in order to hike and park. Also known as Corkscrew Falls because the way the water comes over the rocks it appears to be twirling. The trail was quite muddy on our visit. There is NO bathroom here. Actual visit in May 2019. See more..
  12. 5.0 Hocking County Historical and Geneological Society and Museum (2 reviews)
    - Lots of area information
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • History Museums
It is a large collection stored in 6 buildings. Three of the buildings are over 100 years old. There is a collection in the first home which had a museum feel to it, then you visit some buildings with print shop equipment, a garage with a small Conestoga wagon and a car, and a telegraph office. There is an old carriage house with blacksmith, mining, and wood working tools. There is a house with some pieces from various collections. Open hours are on the weekend or you can call for an appointment. The folks here make it a labor of love and are very friendly. It is fairly well organized for a Historical Society. See more..

    Cedar Falls Hiking Trail image
Beautiful rock formations. Fairly easy trail on a one-way trail system. We visited on a Thursday afternoon, was not terribly crowded. The creek beds were pretty dry, not much rain lately. Saw snapping turtle sunning and you can see trout in the streams. The water fall was minimal but the walk was still worth every step. See more..
  14. 4.5 Cantwell Cliffs (290 reviews)
    - So Worth the Extra Drive!
    Geologic Formations
    Cantwell Cliffs image
Cantwell Cliffs was a bit farther away than the other caves, but it is so worth the drive. (Seventeen minutes from our cabin by Old Man's Cave). The hike and terrain is a bit more rough at this park, but it was absolutely gorgeous. The steps carved out in the rock walls are so cool. Another Must See at Hocking Hills State Park! See more..

We are a canoe, kayak rental and camping center on the Hocking River. We offer both a 5 mile trip and a 7.5 mile trip. The 5 mile trip is better for beginners with less twists and turns in the river. Average paddling time is around 2 hours at summer level but we encourage folks to take their time and enjoy the many gravel bars on the trip, relax, your on river time! Our 7.5 mile trip is a very scenic area allowing you to stop and hike to the natural Rockbridge as well as watch the crazy zip liners going over your head toward the beginning of the trip, don’t worry, you are not in danger of them:). This trip at summer level can take between 3.5 to 4 hours of paddling time. When you are finished enjoying the river we do have private showers available to ease those aching muscles. We also have a great assortment of souvenir T-shirt’s and snacks available in our gift shop. We have been providing the best customer service since 1996! Please come join us for a day of fun on the river! See more..

    - Make this your first stop in the Hocking Hills!
    Visitor Centers
Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center image
For first time visitors to the Hocking Hills, this is a must-do stop. The staff was so helpful and informative, especially at this time since the state parks had been closed due to the coronavirus so not everything was yet open. We got a map marked with the open sites and suggestions on what to do first. Of course, their info racks were crammed full with brochures and booklets that gave us some ideas on where to eat and what else to see while in the area. During these COVID-19 times, they are practicing social distancing and wearing masks. Thank you! See more..

    R Adventure Park image
What a blast!! Our daughter in law is very afraid of heights but we talked her into joining us for the ropes course. The walk up to the course felt hard, but it was a good warm up for the course. The safety harnesses attach to a rail above your head. We felt completely safe the entire time. Patience, our guide, was terrific. She let us go at our own pace and was very encouraging. We were the only ones on the course on a very hot July morning, most of the other guests were there for the Polaris tour. The landscape was stunning from up high. Will take my niece here next time she visits. Tip: if you’re going to tip your guide (and you should.... she was next to us the whole time, cheering us on), take cash for the tip. See more..
  20. 4.5 Columbus Washboard (49 reviews)
    - A made in USA Treasure!
    Saturday: Factory Tours
    Columbus Washboard image
We literally fell upon this very unique place when walking down the Main Street of Logan. The owner of the company Jackie greeted us at the door and was such a warm, personable and passionate person who showed us her amazing collection of antique washboards and how washboards are still made today at this new location into which they moved only a few months ago. You can’t be too old or too young to appreciate this unique place and a product that is a rare find today. The company generously donated many washboards to our troops in the Mideast where they were actively used and much appreciated. Such great history surrounding a beautiful, simple, low-tech product that is still sold and made exclusively in the USA! This special place is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. See more..
  21. 4.5 Whispering Cave Trail (34 reviews)
    - Just Wow!
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    Whispering Cave Trail image
We had been to Old Man's Cave many times before, but this time we decided to try the trail to Whispering Cave. It is so worth the effort! From the Old Man's Cave parking lot to the Cave and back it was close 5 miles, it took us 3 1/2 hours. There were muddy places and places where you have to climb up tree roots. I run 1 to 3 miles a week and this still was a little challenging for me. If you are physically able, do it, you won't be sorry. Photos can not describe the beauty and wonder of this place. See more..
  22. 4.5 John Glenn Astronomy Park (8 reviews)
    - The Special Talk Was Great
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Science Museums • Observatories & Planetariums
    John Glenn Astronomy Park image
We went when they were giving a night talk here, with many telescopes. It was interesting, we learned much, and had the opportunity to look through several telescopes. They don't have a lot of parking, so to be assured of a parking space, go to their website and reserve a spot (free). Also, if it's too cloudy to hold the talk, they will tell you on the website, so be sure to check before you go. Highly recommend! (But if there is no talk being given, there's nothing to see or do--unless you have a telescope of your own, then it would be a good place to set up and see the night skies.) See more..

  24. 4.0 Logan Antique Mall (66 reviews)
    - Nice stop to hide-out from rain or take a break from the heat
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Antique Shops
    Logan Antique Mall image
Interesting little stop, definitely worth it if you get rained out of your outdoor activities - or need a bit of a break from the sun. My mother loves these kind of antique mall/flea markets, and this is a world better than some she's drug me through. I really appreciated that the aisles are cleared well enough you could take a stroller through. As a side note, if you are choosing between this and the craft mall next door, I definitely recommend this one. The craft mall just isn't as full or as interesting. I would also choose this antique mall over most of the ones located at the Hocking Hills Market... See more..
  25. 4.0 Brewery 33 (64 reviews)
    - Fun Brewery! Great beer, family friendly, outdoor area, adjacent to Hungry Buffalo restaurant.
Spent 1-2 hours Bars & Clubs
    Brewery 33 image
Great brewery with outdoor space. Our family enjoyed a super fun Sunday evening here while vacationing in Hocking Hills. Very Covid friendly—nice outdoor space. They had karaoke that night—so fun entertainment for adults & kids. There was a hotdog food truck on site, but we chose to order dinner from the adjacent Hungry Buffalo Restaurant. I just walked over & picked it up. Beers were awesome. My husband loved his IPA & Pilsner was good. I LOVED their seasonal beer with a hint of coconut—so yummy! Wish I lived nearby for that. Super nice employees as well. See more..
  26. 4.0 Hocking River - Logan (20 reviews)
    - Fall leaves in Hocking Hills
    Bodies of Water
    Hocking River - Logan image
Last weekend a group of us went to Hocking Hills to view the changing of the leaves. We walked to Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Old Man's Cave and the Rock House. There were so many beautiful places to look, it just took my breath away. There were rock formations to climb, stone bridges, tunnels through the rocks, falls, rock stairs to climb, and so much to see. If you like the outdoors, this is an awesome place to visit. They even have some handicapped assible areas. It was an invigorating weekend of fun. We are already planning our next trip in the spring to see the leaves come alive again. See more..
  27. 4.0 Chapel Cave (5 reviews)
    - Amazing!
Spent 2-3 hours Caverns & Caves
    Chapel Cave image
I didn't know we had caves like this in Ohio. This is definitely a site to see. There is about a mile or so hike to it. Park at the Repelling parking lot and follow the orange blazes till you get to a creek. You will see on the other side an orange arrow to the left. Go that way to the bend in the creek. You will see white marking posts and a trail going straight. Follow that. That follows a creek. You will come to an outcropping of rocks with a wood fence along the front. Follow the fence and you will come to the cave. Great place to take photos. See more..
  28. 4.0 Journey To Bethlehem (2 reviews)
    - AWESOME!
    Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites

  29. 4.0 Rose Lake (1 review)
    - Quiet and lots of mushrooms
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
The hike to Rose Lake was recommended by one of our hosts while staying in the Hocking Hills. To get to the trail, you park in the fisherman’s parking lot and cross the street to the trail. It is a wooded trail that leads to the lake. It isn’t necessarily a must see in the area, but it is peaceful. We were the only ones on it. If you are interested in mushrooms, you will see some amazing varieties. The trail leads directly down to the lake (.5 miles). You can continue along the trail to the left; instead of going down to the lake. This goes along the lake and takes you out to the bike trail (another .5 miles or so). The mushrooms are along the second part of the trail. There are also stumps that look gnawed on by beaver and lots of hemlock trees on the second part. There are said to be freshwater jellyfish living in the lake that can be seen in the fall, but we didn’t not see any on our trip. The water is fairly clear though. See more..
