Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium was founded in 2009 in the heart of the historic downtown area of Le Claire, Iowa. Donna Walley, the owner, wanted to create a place where women could bring their friends to shop, laugh and find unique items most other stores don’t carry. She also convinced her husband, Wayne, to part with some of his extensive collection of vintage beer signs and barware, so that “guys would have something to look at in the store.” The combination of humorous magnets and greeting cards, reproduction tin signs, pop culture items, vintage collectibles, newer collector items, retro candy and toys, the “naughty box” for adults, “gum with attitude” and “guy stuff” struck a nerve with shoppers as Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium was voted the “Best Gift Shop” in the Quad Cities in the Quad City Times Reader’s Poll in 2012 and 2013. This is the greatest artist recycling workshop! and located in Le Claire, Iowa. What a great idea to support the community in just what it's name says...Reusable Usables! How wonderful that the community can donate items for repurposing works of art. And what a wonderful lesson to share with children and artists of all ages to create something from what otherwise would have ended up in the landfill! You can book a workshop or just stop by to donate items or pick up items and pay by the pound! It jiggles that other side of the brain doesn't always get jiggled! Great museum absolutely packed with information and articles from the times of Buffalo Bill. Multiple video presentations telling the story behind the man. Inside a huge glass enclosure they have preserved an old stern wheel push boat that operated on the Mississippi River next to museum. You can walk all through the boat decks and around it.
