A friend and I attended Patty’s all day class held the first Saturday of the month. We were greeted by her husband, Michael. He took ourmbags to our room. On the bed were our personalized aprons! We went to the kitchen and met Patty and the other 2 students...we gathered around the large butcher block island for our first set of instruction...charring red peppers for Pepper Bisque. We were preparing the meal for service that night in the dining room Back to,the red pppers...after completely charring on the gas cooktop, they were placed in a paperbag. We removed the skin, the membranes and the seeds using a papertowel. Patty putting them under water removed some of the flavor! We continued with 2 appetizers, sorbet, a raspberry reduction sauce, Caesar salad dressing, peeling pears and potatoes with an electric peeler, slicing the dried fruit to stuff the pork and ricing the potatoes. We were preparing for 17 dining room guests. We began at 10:00. Took a break from 12:30 -1:30. Back in the kitchen until 4:00. At 7, we joined the other guests for cocktails and an appeizer in the parlor. We enjoyed our handiwork at dinner. We were served by young girls. The dishes were beautifully plated and delicious! We leaned so much from Patty. In the afternoon, her sous chef, Michael, joined us. It was a great day...and yes, we paid to cook! Cannot wait to return and take my husband! See more..

    - If you like clocks, this place is for you!
    Antique Shops
While at Abingdon Manor’s cooking class, during our lunch break, we stopped in here. It was a Saturday and they usually close earlier but stayed open in case a school student came by... Clocks were everywhere but other treasures, too. I purchased a lovely Susan Shaw necklace. See more..
