    Smith Gilbert Gardens image
With a variety of plantings, the Hiram Butler Home (ca. 1880) and 31 sculptures, Smith-Gilbert Gardens has something for everyone. At the center of Smith-Gilbert Gardens is the historic Hiram Butler House, dating back over 150 years. The house was once owned by Mr. Butler, a Confederate railroad man, who worked the lines most of his life and was present during the "Great Locomotive Chase." In 1970, Mr. Richard Smith and Dr. Robert Gilbert bought the Hiram Butler House and surrounding acreage in Kennesaw, Georgia. Over the following 35 years, they realized their dream of developing the house and grounds, with an emphasis on unique plantings and thoughtfully positioned sculpture. Now open to the public, Smith-Gilbert Gardens is 16 acres of serene setting with over 3,000 species of plants, several rare in American gardens. United by woodland paths, the Gardens consist of separate groupings with individual elements of fascination. These include the Bonsai Exhibit, Palladino Camellia Garden, tea house and waterfall area, Rose Garden, and Conifer Display. Our Garden is a proud member of various horticultural groups including the American Conifer, American Daffodil, American Hosta and the Southeastern Camellia societies. We are also a designated wildlife habitat by the Atlanta Audubon Society. Both our Rose Garden and the Conifer Collection have received special recognition as places to visit by their respective societies. See more..

    - Nature Walk through Park
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
This park is great for walks or runs mostly through the woods and along a creek. Formerly an old family farm, donated to Cobb County and cared for by a co-op of volunteers and Eagle Scout projects, this park is a nice break from the traditional park such as Swift Cantrell. We love both parks, but when we want to take a more leisurely walk with our dog through a shaded park, we choose Leone Hall Price Park. Throughout the park they have numerous picnic tables and benches, mowed wide paths across the fields, wild flowers, paths through the woods, and shade trees for hanging an eno hammock. It is always very quiet and peaceful. See more..

    Kennesaw Depot Park image
This is a great community park for families, history buffs, and train fans to explore. We enjoy walking through the park a couple of times a year, to see the wonderful displays and get fresh air. Located directly across the street from the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, the Kennesaw Depot Park includes the restored railroad depot, a fenced playground, a beautiful walkway around a small amphitheater lined with paintings portraying the events of the great locomotive chase, and a pedestrian tunnel under the very active railroad tracks. Nearby (across the tracks from the museum), there is also a beautiful tree covered park with benches to sit and just watch the world go by, and monuments to fallen soldiers, a 911 monument, and historic markers. If you are visiting the museum, you definitely want to visit the paintings of the Great Locomotive Chase at the amphitheater. If you have youngsters, the playground is great for running off energy. Nice continuous running short film on Anne Frank in a little theater. Then the remainder are static displays covering holocaust, WW2 and Georgia's contributions to WW2. You end up doing a lot of reading about sad and touching stories we never knew and should never forget. Vivid pictures supporting the displayed stories. Probably best experienced with multiple 1-2 hour visits. A bit over whelming during a single visit. Nice coverage of very sad stories. It is located in the KSU Center. Free admission and lots of free parking all around the building. Have stopped by multiple times and wish I had done so sooner. See review pictures! See more..

    - Great place to go line dance
    Bars & Clubs
    Electric Cowboy image
We have some friends that have gone here and talked about it so my wife and I went in January to check it out on a Friday night and had a good time. It has a big dance floor, 6 bars, pool tables and a place to get food. We took friends back in March and again in this past Friday 8/7/15. We have had good experiences every time we've been, the DJ is nice and plays what we ask and the bartenders are nice as well, at least the ones that we've dealt with. The only down side to the place to us is they allow smoking inside the building and it gets a little bad sometimes but they do have ventilation that helps and the bathroom attendants in the men's bathrooms.
