We selected the Golf Cart Eco Tour and it was amazing. Dawn was very knowledgeable about the Island and answered all of our questions. We enjoy going on guided tours when we visit new places and this tour did not disappoint. The tour lasted 2 hours exactly and we had so much fun! The Charles Herndon Sculpture Garden and Galleries is an outdoor Sculpture Garden and collection of galleries that showcases work by Ohio based sculptor Charles Herndon. You will see sculptures of many different forms and materials including steel, stone, bronze, aluminum and concrete. Charles also paints and has many paintings and prints on display. Come to check out the work and leave with a Charles Herndon original! Walk around the gardens and notice the houses, many built 1900 or before. Sculptures abound by the water and around the property. Stopped at Cathy’s and was impressed with the selection. She is friendly, doesn’t hurry us along and was great with the kids. She explained all about the sea glass and when and where to look for it. The kids were soon on the hunt and did indeed find some treasures. If visiting KI, you should definitely stop in and check out her jewelry. See more..

This was a really neat stop! There aren't many parking spots but we didn't have a problem finding one. The parking lot is right up to the attraction which is nice. There are stairs so it's not handicap or wheelchair accessible. If you go up the right side you go up a more gradual incline verses taking the stairs to the top from the left side. We stopped here for some beach time with our family. The parking area is right across from the Glacial Grooves. We arrived about noon on a Friday (July 4th holiday weekend) and was able to find great parking. We also found a great shaded spot to setup our area. This beach is perfect for families with little ones, the grade is very gradual and shallow throughout most of the beach area. We also have teens who had a lot of fun in the lake as well so great for all ages. There is a kayak rental stand right on the beach, bring cash though for it!!! It's $30 per hour for a double and $19 an hour for a single. They have a port-a-john style restroom and kind of a changing area, my son described it as pretty much a large bird house with some doors on it because there was a lot of bird feces everywhere. It had awesome bartenders, a sand beach area with corn hole boards, a huge Jenga game on the picnic table and plenty of TVs around the bar to watch the game or whatever while you there. Make sure to walk up the hill from the ferry and get your cart here. The location when you get off the ferry had a rude worker which luckily was out of carts. Another person waiting with me for a cart to return said there were carts up the hill. We walked up together and both were glad we were not giving our business to the rude man located right off the ferry (Jet Express). This is a unique trail that covers lots of different scenery. The boardwalk will take you into the marsh and from there onto the beach. On a hot day, we recommend following all of the right paths to get to the beach. Stay on the beach for awhile. Then trace your way back when you are finished. If you do the loop, there is an observation tower that is nice for bird watchers. During certain times of the year, this part of the path is flooded. Visited Kelleys Island (Lake Erie Vacation) for the first time in August. We had a great time. One thing we really liked was the Gem Mining Station (they call it a sluice) where you can pan for gems. It is located in Caddy Shack Square on Division Street in the center of town inside the putt putt grounds. It is more set up for kids, but the wife and I had a blast and ended up with a lot more loot than we anticipated! My wife is going to have a necklace made from a green rock that we identified as an Emerald in the rough. If we had the kids I know they would have loved it so next year, it is a must stop. They also had a shop where you buy the "rich bags of dirt" for the sluice and we picked up a few excavating kits for the kids to take back. My wife found this silver "Kelleys Island" shaped charm necklace which she says she likes to wear to remind her of our visit. We are already planning to go again next year. See more..

Inscription Rock Petroglyphs are markings of some early 1200 to 1600 native american carvings. They were found in 1833. The elements have removed most of what can be seen but it is quite interesting to see what they were able to uncovering and copy. It is easy to miss this site. Look for the awkward looking covering over the site. A piece of history on the opposite side of the island from the glacier grooves. See more..
