Our vision is to memorialize the courageous stand of the Greensboro Four as they launched, for posterity, the sit-in movement Feb. 1, 1960. My family and I love this park. Come on an off day and get just the right amount of quiet. Come on a weekend and even when the place is busy it isn't so overly crowded you lose your mind. Plenty of stuff to do, a great walkway with plenty of shade, hills, and great scenery! Has a nice dog park, and is proximal to the Guilford Courthouse Military Park, which is super cool as well. I've been visiting this park for about 20 years. Over those years there was a spot about 5-10 years ago where the park was seemingly overrun with signs. Everywhere there was sign telling you something you must or must not do, a place you must not go, and so on. But more recently I see that peeling back, so that's nice. With Covid implementations in place the park rangers have a station set up outside of the museums for a map of the driving/walking tour and to answer questions. The museum is open but limited for interactive exhibits and no movie in the theater. The gift shop is also closed. That said, the tour itself was pretty remarkable. ... if you like Antiques Roadshow, or are interested in 19th century US history or architecture or North Carolina. If you're under 12, this tour is not for you -- it's at least an hour and you can't touch anything! I loved it -- Ryan did an excellent job as our tour guide. As others have said, the house doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is absolutely beautiful. The preservationists have done an outstanding job. At seven or eight dollars, for so much information in a small group with lots of chances to ask questions -- this is a bargain. I'm so glad I stopped by -- a highlight of my trip to NC. Especially during the pandemic, this area has served as a “headquarters” for many healthy and beneficial activities. For hikers, it is a trailhead for Nat Greene and Wild Turkey trails ( Wild Turkey is also a nice bike trail). Just across the street is also lovely Laurel Bluff Trail, and across the dam/ bridge are Piedmont and Reedy Fork Trails. Walking around the lake is only about 8.2 miles. Of course, fishing and boating available here too. Families, complying with CoVid guidelines, are also loving this facility.
